helicopter search at POFQ

I stayed at POFQ this past week. On Sunday I took the boat from FQ to DTD. While we waited for the boa we noticed a helicopter with searc hlight that kept circling the river and trees near FQ. We asked the captain of the boat what was going on, and he nonchalantly said they were looking for somebody. This seemed a bit strange to me. Once we boarded the boa and began our journey, we saw what looked like either Disney security or police officers (it was too dark to tell) and regular guests looking out into the river. An empty wheelchair waited with them. Once we were close to DTD patrol boats quickly passed us in a no wake zone. That was the last we heard or saw of the incident. It kind of weirded me out, and I was wondering if anyone saw it too. I realize that Disney likes to quickly and quietly cover up an indiscretions, so i probably will never really know what happened.

I have been searching the local news channel and newspaper sites, including the Orlando Sentinel, and have not had any luck finding a story about this....yet. Must be another one of Disneys hush-hush actions.

I was glad to see someone else post this!
I was also at POFQ that night! When I walked from my building 1 down the path that follows the river and I saw several Disney employees talking very casually/calmly, a wheelchair, and several rescue boats. We kept walking to the pool and while we were swimming the helicopter began to circle with search lights. We watched the river but nothing ever happened. After maybe 15 minutes the helicopter disappeared and so did everyone that was standing around by the water. I don't think they found what they were looking for.

I'd love to find out what that was all about! Of course there was tons of speculation around the pool.......possibly it was a practice test run for employees??

Last Monday, (the 11th) the monorail was shut down on the Epcot loop. There were at least 12 security/police cars at Epcot and the entire area around the monorail station was blocked off with CM's guarding it so nobody could get in. Wonder if there is a connection.

Could it have been that they found an empty wheelchair near the water and began a search for the missing owner thereof?
