Hi all,

I am new to this board, although I have been to Disney many times!!! It's my favorite place!

This time however is the first time I am going w/ little ones and I was wondering where I could find height restrictions for some rides?

Keep in mind that if your child is "close" don't make promises. Sometime people have reported that their child didn't measure at Disney exactly the same as they did at home (some people believe Disney compensates a little for shoes).

I think the previous poster might be right. I know for a FACT that my son should have qualified in height for some rides on our last family trip... but didn't. The stick would come right barely over his head- and the CMs said it had to touch their head.... not just the hair. But he should have been tall enough! So I think it's off a bit- for whatever reason.

We just got back and my experience was a bit different. We were very worried about my daughter who is 5 years old but quite short for her age. The day before we left she measured 40 and 1/4 inches barefoot. She just wore normal flat sneakers while we were there so there wasn't much heel. We were very worried about her not getting on the rides she wanted to go on. But it turns out she hit the stick exactly every time she was measured.

But here is the surprising thing. Most of the time they didn't even measure her. During the course of our trip I figure she had about 15 rides on attractions that were 40 inch minimums and they only meaured her 3 times total! Once she went right up to the CM holding the stick and asked "Am I tall enough to go on this?" and he just smiled and waived her through. All I can figure is that they are used to measuring kids that act like 3 year olds and when someone looks and acts 5 they just assume the kid is tall enough.

Well, that might be the case sometimes- but my son was 5 and acts like his 9yr old sister. Or maybe SHE acts like she's 5- hahaha who knows. But in any case, he sure didn't "act" younger than his age- atleast not until he found out he couldn't ride- then we had a bit of whining and sometimes tears (but not loudly crying- just sitting there waiting for sis/1 parent to get off the ride with tears rolling. *sniff sniff*)

However, I do know the CMs aren't exactly perfect on this (and really can't expect them to- but they honestly should be more precise about measuring people) because on TWO rides- not one but TWO- that my son barely didn't measure up..... while sitting there waiting for others to ride (with either me or his father plus the baby) we saw OTHER children getting off the rides that were SHORTER (yes, definitely shorter) than him. He noticed it- it was that obvious.
Unfair! And it certainly didn't help on the whine/tears factor and didn't help us explaining that he just wasn't tall enough and how they had to have those rules for his safety. Try explaining that to a just turned 5yr old while he watches smaller children than him getting OFF the ride after riding it! :(

:earsboy:cboz111 WELCOME to the DIS!!:earsboy:

The 1st time we went on Dinosaur at AK it was called Countdown to Extinction at that time...well anyway...the kid measured Erich and said he was okay. While waiting in line all of sudden Erich has a "potty emergency" so we get out of the building and go to the br.We go to get in line again, new CM working the measuring stick,he says Erich isn't tall enough! So happens we saw the one that said he could go,got his attention and they let Erich on.If ya want my opinion the second CM held the stick off the ground a bit.Make sure when they're measuring your child that the stick is on the ground!!

I just returned from WDW. RNR and a few other rides had a permanent height sign that your child has to be measured against. Maybe there was too much inconsistency with the sticks? Anyway, my 6yo DD was measured at home at 48 1/2 inches. She was not tall enough at the sign for RNR (which has a 48" requirement.)
