Just curious, why is it so high? It doesn't really throw you around and the spinning isn't that intense. I have only ever ridden it once and I didn't find it that interesting so maybe I am just remembering it wrong?

It's got a lot of sideways force imo and I would guess that's why.
More of a safety from being smooshed or coming out of the seat

I've always read such horrible things about that ride, I dread the day DS is tall enough to ride it! :-) He was close last time, my time is running out!

I think it's more for having developed enough neck muscles to not get hurt. That ride really throws you around.

Very easy for small children to have their head thrown against the side of the vehicle by the jerking motion it does

You remembered correctly.

Maybe it's just me, but Primeval Whirl is the least 'Disney' ride at Disney, particularly it's location.

In the middle of a carnival atmosphere is one of the two rides with the tallest height requirement (Rockin' Coaster being the other 48" requirement).

Little children can walk by and ask, "Look Mommy/Daddy/Adult, it makes silly noises, it's not a roller coaster, why can't I go on it?"

My daughter was finally tall enough to ride and agreed, "One & done!"

Similarly, after taking my daughter to go-carts where she can actually steer the vehicle and pass other go-carts, we never have to go on Tomorrowland Speedway ever again.

Here's what I'm getting at - regardless of height requirement, Primeval Whirl is a waste of time unless you have time to waste waiting for the Nemo show or your Dinosaur FP+ to become active.

Wow; we LOVE PW. Terrific ride that I feel safe on, unlike the semi-equivalent of Goofy's Sky School (and the horrid one at our local theme/waterpark where I felt like we were going to plummet to our deaths imminently).

(recognizing that it's not the best in terms of safety for CMs working on it)
