Hi been suggested that i repost over here

From reading the guides can see rides have height restrctions and can understand that. But am seeing that your checked at each ride .Is there anyway to alter this am thinking of my youngest as its going to mean hauling him out his wheelchair all the time on a good day he be ok and could stand on bad day standing going take couple of people and since he also has global delay it affects his understanding .In this case could we get customer asstiance to premeasure him ?

Just wonder how they measure anyone that struggles or cant stand .

At each attraction with a height requirement, the Cast Members should be able to measure him in his chair. Will he be able to sit up straight and tall? There's no system to premeasure, as far as I know.

There was an extensive thread on this general subject a few months ago, with lots of creative solutions, but in reality WDW does not have a system. You are certainly fee to ask for an accomodation if it is needed for equal access.

Thank you
yes he could sit up tall but am just wondering how they would measure him as if they use a stick thats only going to give his height at siting .Something ill need to sort out nearer the time i guess .Think going to need to stretch him some

There is no procedure in place for any measurment to be done at Guest Relations. All measurement is done at the specific attraction.

The question does present itself about both age and height. Will he be able to transfer (or be transferred) and safely ride an attraction with a minimum height restriction?

How old is your DS and if he were able to stand, how close would he be to the height limit? I'm fairly certain there are procedures in place for kids who can't stand that don't involve hauling them out of their wheelchairs. SueM may know since her daughter has never been able to stand.

Yes, here I am.

My DD has never been measured, even when she was little. They asked if she was able to stand and since she is not able to stand at all unless held up, they then asked us how tall she was. This was what happened at all of the attractions with height restrictions. I do have to say that we waited until she was at least several inches over the requirement for everything. She has not been on Space Mountain, BTMRR, Rock N Roller Coaster or Expedition Everest, so I am not sure how strict they would be. We decided that those attractions would not be safe for her because she does not have the balance to stay correctly positioned (and for Space Mountain, she would not be able to ride in the seat with no one aside her).

She has been on everything else at WDW multiple times.

I will also mention that when she is sitting in her wheelchair, people see her long legs and are surprised to hear that she is barely 5 feet tall. The long legs make her look taller. I have the opposite reaction from people; when I am sitting at a table and they can’t see my long legs, people don’t expect me to be 5 foot 7 when I stand up.

One attraction I would advice STRONGLY against for anyone who can’t stand would be Primeval Whirl. That ride combines a roller coaster with rotation (sort of like the teacups). The rotation is random and there is very little in terms of a restraint to keep guests in place. Without her legs to help support her, my DD could not stay upright and by the end of the ride she was barely on the seat.
