It doesn't affect me because my youngest is 22. But, I heard on my radio station today that they are banning Heelys in malls in New York. Has anybody else heard anything about this?

I don't know but I wish they would ban them in my freaking grocery store!!!!!

Today I had a cart full of groceries - I mean like overflowing and this little hellion of about 7 kept skating in front of me. Do you know how HARD it is to shop with a toddler and baby in the first place and then have to look out for little ****s on heelies?!!!!

I'm sure there is a little faction out there that will say I'm lying....but unfortunately I'm not.

They should be banned. They are a menance in any store. What are parents thinking when they allow the kids to use them in stores

I hate kids using them indoors....use them on the street outside your house, not in a shopping mall.

i'm just glad because kids always seem to get hurt while wearing those things.

I think that a few kids who abuse the privilege will likely get all of them banned in indoor places. It's a shame really.

There are signs on the doors on various stores in our area.

WDW supposedly bans them but there are no signs and cm's don't seem to stop people who are wearing them.

They need to make parents take a test before buying them for their kids. Like drivers training... but manners training! They'd be fine if the kids were not so rude about it. Maybe I only notice the awful kids...

Not sure why it would be a problem if they ban them in malls. How can anyone complain that their children can't skate in a mall? (LOL, I am sure someone will be in an uproar) Public place, privately owned.

They should be banned in all indoor places where the majority of people are walking.

or... just ban the kids from the mall. Then we'd have more walking room, shorter lines and we'd save money if our kids couldnt go with us!

Good. Now I wish all indoor places would follow suit.

Yes - especially grocery stores. I always marvel at the parent who is with the heely kid. It's like they're totally oblivious to how obnoxious it is.:confused3 ;)

Heelys are banned in our mall and all our local grocery stores too.

Yay! Had a kid slam into me at the drink refill station at the Chinese restaurant last night. Spilled my soda and the kids just rolls off oblivious.

When I drop off/pick up DS at school, I see kids rolling around on their Heelys. I can't believe the school allows them. Even though the school hasn't banned them, why would a parent think it's okay for a kid to be skating around in the halls? :sad2:

FTR, my DS has a pair of Heelys, but so far he has only used them at home (inside and out). He did wear them to the store once because I had to go there spur of the moment and he already had them on. I let him know ahead of time he was not to skate on them and he didn't.

Not all Heely parents are oblivious. ;)

I work part-time for a gymnastics & cheer center. We had to ban them in the parents waiting area. The one Mom couldn't believe we wouldn't let her little darling skate in an 18 x 20 area with about 25 people in it. :confused3 We couldn't believe how upset she got.

DD went to a skating party the other day, and she had her Heelys on. She also took her skates with her. This was a private party - as in the skating rink was closed except for this party. There were younger kids, so moms were out there in regular shoes helping their little ones get used to her skates. Anyway, DD went out on the rink to tell her friend something before changing into her skates, and the DJ told her she couldn't wear Heelys on the skating floor. :confused3 I could see it if street shoes weren't allowed, but they are - even strollers are allowed out there. It was no big deal as she didn't plan on leaving them on, so she just changed into her roller blades, but I had to laugh - "Sorry, no skating on the skating rink floor." :rolleyes1
