Heavy winds and rain in Central NJ Today. My roof is old and the wind is taking my shingles one at a time. Also lost my canvas carport and a lamp on my front porch. I called the roofer and he will come Monday as long as I don't see "daylight" from inside my home. We live in South Amboy on the Sayreville border. Its still raining and gusting now.

We're in Manville and the river is rising and rising. I've packed some bags and moved the scrapbooks and American Girls upstairs. Cross your fingers and pray that we don't need to evac.

oh noo... bad here in North Jersey also. Flooding everywhere, trees down.

My brother lives on So 6th Ave in Manville, havn't heard from him today.
Stay safe.

I'm sorry.. :( Sounds like all of you are having some very bad weather down there.. Just received a phone call from the guy who has the place next to me at the lake (he lives on Long Island) and he said it's brutal in his area right now too..

Hope you all have homeowners that will cover these damages for you!!

WInd broke our huge gate...ripped the lock right off! Lights are flickering.

North Jersey here (Bergen County). I'm watching the awning above my back door fly up and down with the wind. Just waiting for it to go flying off. Already have a bit of water in my basement too and hear all the trees cracking, garbage cans rolling down the road. It's really some crazy weather.

My ex just called to check in from Staten Island and he says there's some weird flicking light in the sky (like lightning but steady and bright). Not sure what's going on there!

I hope your roof doesn't get too much worse before the roofer gets there!

The storm is pretty bad here in Brooklyn, NY too. My electricity has gone out about 6 or 7 times. I have a huge tree in front of my house that scares me everytime a storm like this comes. And, we have another day of this tomorrow!

Prayers to all my north and Central Jersey neighbors.this rain and winds need to stop. I have water in my basement. It is coming through the walls. The winds brought a crane down in AC.
Stay safe!!!!

North Jersey here! No major damage but our streets are starting to flood. Everyone is staying in tonight. Just talked to a friend who lives about 15 minutes away lost power about an hour ago. Hopefully everything will be better tomorrow!

Mom lives on LBI and she's had no power most of the day. We're in Burlington Cty, about 1/2 mile from the Delaware and have lost 2 huge trees. At least they haven't hit the house. We also now have a pond in our backyard. Hopefully this is the worst of it. A little worried about the river cresting sometime tomorrow.

Looks like we've got lots of company "weathering" the storm. Good luck to everyone!

I'm in Lost Valley. We are officially the first house in town that floods. Its weird because there are houses closer to the river but due to the lay of the land we get hit first. Weird! I called the police station and their response was "Well, we're monitoring the situation." I think I knew more than he did. :sad2:
I hope your brother is okay. If it helps, the water is still okay, rising, but still okay. If you don't see me on the boards tomorrow, you know why!!

I hope you stay dry and the roof doesn't get any worse.

...we lost our power this morning for about 5 hours.....at 4AM this morning, my DH and DS had to go into the garage to get the generator and hook it up to our sump pump in the basement or our basement would have been FLOODED...

Oh no, be safe. We're in Branchburg and there is flooding all around, just came in from the planetarium and saw a tree down at my son's school.

I'm in Monmouth County and the wind and rain are brutal. I had to work today and the drive to North Jersey was awful. At least the Parkway was pretty empty. It was hard to drive straight. The wind gusts were so strong.

Metuchen here. It is bad. i was in Bridgewater most of the day and it was bad driving home on 287. My yard is flooded and I am praying the work I did 3 years ago around the house will prevent water from getting in the basement.
I lived in Lost Valley from the time I was 6months to 6 years. Boesel (sp??) Ave. We lived on the high part of the street. I remember the floods coming up the street, but not reaching our house.

I've been dreading this storm. My office is in the same building as United Water's engineering department. I was talking to one of the engineers the other day, and he told me that they are all on flood alert for the weekend. A storm this heavy can have major consequences for the water company and its reservoirs.

We have a bunch of branches from a neighbor's tree in the yard and had to open our French drains a little while ago. Ugh!

Checking in from Morris County here. It's been awful all day. Branches down everywhere, rain and wind terrible.

We have some water leaking down in our family room from the area that has the ductwork. It's dripping down from the AC vent. Really worried where it is coming from and if I've got bigger problems on my hands. Luckily no power outages here.

It's just scary outside. Hope it starts to lighten up overnight.

I just put channel 5 news on and they're reporting that two people were killed by a downed tree in Teaneck. That's very close to where I am.

Ocean County here - we have heavy winds and rain - I worry about trees in the area - and the back yard looks like a pool in spots...

Lights have been flicking on and off most of the afternoon - hasn't happened lately.

Watching the Rockefeller movie on Lifetime, and service for that station has been out for the last 15 minutes...grrrr.
