Heating at night

Hey Karla, we were in the Whites this weekend as well and hope to post some pics later today. Could not have asked for better weather during the day! Took the family up to the top of Mt. Washington on the auto road, and can't believe how much fun that was.

Hey Dan! It was beautiful, huh? Was there much snow on Mt. Washington? I looked at the webcam from the observatory and it looked like there was some snow, but couldn't really tell how much. What campground did you stay at? Would you stay at it again? Can't wait to see the pics! :)

It was fantastic up there, still slowly working on editing and resizing pix for posting on the photos of your rig at other campsites page.

There was some ice on the top of Mt. Washington, and temps in the low 40s with 50 to 60 mph wind gusts - a balmy, beautiful day on Mt. Washington!

We stayed at the Glen Ellis campground and it was fantastic. Lots of big open fields in the middle for organized sports and for the kids to stretch their legs (could easily fit another 100 sites in there if they were greedy, which they are not). First time at this CG, would highly recommend it.

Oh, and to keep on topic :thumbsup2 , we used propane at our site and did have a humidity problem because nobody would let me keep the vent open. Our only ceiling vent is in the bathroom (probably a very strategic location!), and nobody wanted a cold bathroom in the morning. We tried keeping one of the windows open a bit in the bunk area, but our youngest was cold. I'm thinking we need a second vent somewhere.

So, we went camping this week, I have to say with 3 people and 2 dogs in a camper with the heat on at night and 2 vents open we still had condensation. During the day we opened up the doors and windows and all dried out.

Yeah, we still got condensation last weekend even with the BR vent open. We may try too crack a window next time, as well. I figure we will probably also get a space heater before next season. As long as it dries out during the day I'm not too worried.

Since we purchased our MH in 2004, we camp every Thanksgiving with several other families (2 DSis' plus 3 or 4 other families) in Lancaster, PA. Usually Tuesday/Wednesday til Sunday. It's never warm and sometimes it's even rainy. Our first year, we used an entire propane tank from Wednesday til Friday and then had to borrow a heater for the rest of the weekend. It was not a great way to start our camping experiences!

Once back, we figured that we should probably invest in a space heater or 2 to reduce the strain on the propane tank so that we don't run out again. We found out that certain heaters (I bought/returned quite a few) didn't play nice with the power system - we ended up resetting the circuit breakers quite a few times until we found what worked. It doesn't help that we have a little dog who likes to climb around - made positioning the heater that much more challenging. We have never noticed condensation - now I wonder if I'm missing something.

I recently bought an oil-filled radiant heater that we'll be taking with us this year. Here's hoping it works because it's a real pain to disconnect a Class C to get your propane refilled at the front end of the campground! And I'll be checking carefully for condensation.
