Any recommendations, please?

(I know this has been posted before, but I can't get the search to work!)

Only flown from Heathrow once, last Oct. Would only use Purple parking as a last resort. It is a huge place, when we got back they took us into the office to tell us they had lost our keys. They had to bring us back to Yorkshire in a minibus, take spare keys back to London, drive my car back up with another car following to take the driver back.
We were in their office about 30 mins, at least 6 problems with lost keys and damage to cars.
So I would probably find hotel with parking like you asked for, safer than places like this

Thanks for that, Wayne - one to avoid, I think!

One small point I've just realised - our BA flight in April will be from Terminal 5 (hope it's ready ;) ), but I can't find any info on how to get there or whether there'll be transfers available from the Heathrow hotels.

Hi Hilary,

We flew out of Heathrow to LA last week on our way to Vegas for 6 nights. I booked through Holiday Extras and took a gamble on the mystery hotel option which included one night accommodation and upto 15 nights parking for the measly sum of £59.

Turned out to the Holiday Inn M4 J4 which despite a few indifferent reviews on various forums, we found to be very nice. It is classed as a 4 star and the public areas probably reflect that, the rooms are nearer to a 3 star but are fine for one night stay.

You park up anywhere in the hotel car park for the overnight, which is handy if you want to dump dirty clothes from the night before off. Then just leave your keys with reception. On return we handed the slip of paper to reception and were pointed in the right direction to find our car, which was about 2 or 3 spaces over from where we had left it.

The hotel is also on the Heathrow Hoppa route and picks up first on way to the airport, and first on the way back. Very handy. Alternatively taxis are about £10.

As for your comment re: Terminal 5, currently terminal 4 is not served by the Hoppa and you have to go to another terminal and get a further shuttle. This may well happen with term 5 as well.......who knows?

Great value @ £59. Surely a loss leader for them???

Hi Hilary

I've used the Holiday Inn, Sipson Road at Heathrow a few times (caution, there are no less than 3 Holiday Inns around LHR!) Here's a link - you need to look at the top of the page for their Park Stay and Go options: http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi...hotelsearchresults&rpb=hotel&_requestid=80939

We didn't get the great deal that jwhiting got (and I think for the same hotel!), but still good as I recall, £79 I think, including parking. Best thing was we got to keep our car keys as we parked in the hotel grounds (can involve a bit of driving round to find a space though). The rooms were pretty good too (not used the hotel for 18 months). Using the Hoppa was easy enough.

Will be contacting you within the next couple of days :)

We stayed at the Marriott which is a really nice hotel - I think we booked this through holidayextras.com but it was so long ago I dont remember and dont know how much it was. Parking was on site.

I know Debs stayed here last month, if she sees this she might give you more information:thumbsup2

Thanks for the info so far :) It's helping me to narrow down the list from Holiday Extras!

Will be contacting you within the next couple of days
I'm intrigued, Moira!

:yay: Hi Hilary

We used The Park Inn at Heathrow last year - very nice:)

This ski trip we used VIP Parking since our flight didn't leave until 2pm. This was an excellent service and would recommend it to anyone - they collect your car from you at whichever terminal you're travelling from, then they're waiting for you with your car when you land.

This October for FL our flight leaves at 7.55am which would mean us getting up and leaving home around 4am:scared1: , so I had a look at Holidayextras who we've always used and they wanted £180 for the Park Inn. I think not!

However, they did have these 'mystery' hotels, so after a bit of deducing, it was obvious for £89 it was going to be either the Park Inn or Crowne Plaza. Staying at the latter and the £89 includes up to 15 nights parking:)

Hope you're all well:thumbsup2

We usually use the Thistle (on site parking, large rooms - no complaints) but have booked the Renaissance this year as they were the only hotel that could accomodate a family of 5 (two connecting rooms for the rice of a family room :) ) Will let you know in 3 weeks if it's any good ;)

We used Travellers' Toolkit and also opted for the "blind" option which got us the Crowne Plaza (ostensibly a 4*) for £79 including 15 nights' parking. The rate for the same hotel as a named option was £160.

It wasn't a patch on the Sofitel at Gatwick and, even if it hadn't been in the middle of refurbishment works, it wasn't my idea of a 4* hotel, but at the price it was a no-brainer. The room was quite nice; the bar and the restaurant just OK. The best part is that you get to park in the hotel's own car park. We expected to pay an additional night's parking (£10/£20?), but they just stamped our ticket. When you think about it, any transatlantic 2 week holiday will be 16 nights - the night of your stay, the 14 nights away, plus the overnight flight, arriving the next morning.

The Hoppa bus costs £4.00 each. Taxis charge a fixed price of £9.00, so we opted for that. You book at check-in.

Actually, Rachel, it was Kev and Tam who stayed at the Marriott. From what I can gather, it's a much nicer hotel than the Crowne Plaza (where we stayed), but we couldn't get a sensible rate.

We have used the Marriott Slough / Windsor {Jct5 / M4} quite a few times.
Not far on Heathrow Hoppa.
Never had a problem with Parking {On Site}
Pool & Fitness Centre
Toby Carvery Opposite & Harvester 100yds down the Road.

Deb - did you eat in the hotel's restaurant that night? If so, what was the fiood like? We were wondering whether once you've parked the car, if we would be able to move it do go out and about, if the restaurant was no good.

I like this idea :thumbsup2 but I can't get the Crowne Plaza to come up as an option with either Holiday Extras or Traveller's Toolkit for the dates we want.

Is it possible to get a taxi from all hotels to the terminals? I know it's possible from the hotels a bit further out, but what about the ones that are really close? I'm just wondering if there's some restriction on non-airport traffic within a certain distance from the terminals.

I'm tempted by The Park Inn at the moment (which I'm fairly sure is one of the 'mystery' options ;) ).

I really liked the Park Inn - and there was a pub just over the road which, whilst not the 'smartest' establishments per se, did the most amazing food for bargain prices.

Go for it, Hilary:thumbsup2

The food wasn't bad at all, just not as good as they'd like to think it is! Put it this way; if I was staying there again, I'd eat there again. If you wanted to take the car out, I'm sure you could just get your ticket activated to allow you to exit the car park without charge.

The taxi charge is a flat £9 from all hotels and the option is available at all of them, regardless of location.

Another option is to stay nearer London and get the heathrow express in on flight day.
We're looking for somewhere with easy access to/from M4 so that we have an easier drive back to S Wales on our return. The other option on our short-list at the moment is the Holiday Inn Slough/Windsor (even closer to MA westbound ;) ), but The Park Inn has a pool, so that may be the deciding factor.
