Heard its very crowded today

I was at MK for a pre-opening ADR and then went to get a bus over the Hollywood Studios. The line for bag check at 9.45ish when I was leaving was all the way back to the board where they tell you which bus stop to go to. HS was even worse with crazy waits in the hot sun so I used my FP for Star Tours and shifted my other ones back to this evening. I was here last year and it is soooo much busier!

Who does this calendar? I typically use touring plans. Is this a live up-to-minute calendar?
That is EasyWDW's presentation of Disney's current wait times. As far as I can tell, it's the same times you see in the MDE app.

I bookmark http://easywdw.com/waits/
And launch that web page on my phone because it loads less data (faster and uses less battery) than the MDE app.

F&W soft launches 1 week early, it has every year. If had to find a spot I could vacation around school, this year I would have taken the smaller soft launch over the larger opening week especially since I could combine it with MNSSHP.

ohhhh this is intriguing! I went to the 2nd week of F&W last year and I figured my AP would last until the first weekend this year, but no go.....so maaayyybbeeeee the soft opening will be up and running at the beginning of next week! WOOOO

No, F&W soft opens one DAY early (i.e. this year Thurs the 24th) which will be swamped with cast members.

How swamped? I had planned on going that evening to avoid the cluster that will happen on Friday (we leave Sat the 27th).

I am sitting poolside right now at the resort. Magic Kingdom crowds felt crushing today. At 11am there was a posted 75 minute wait for Cinderella/Rapunzel

According to Josh's discussions on this, Thurs WILL be better than Friday or that weekend, but if you can, the following Mon or Tues. would be better. And arriving early to World Showcase (at 11am when it opens) will be the best. The cast members start crowding in there around 5-6pm.

I know there's all sorts of Disney lingo I'm not hip to. This has me stumped. Who is 'the' really great friend of Merida?
There is a whole thread about here somewhere...there is a wonderful friend of Merida that many of us have met. She is amazing...very friendly, excited, playful and she remembers DD every trip and greets her by name enthusiastically! Thread was started by someone who was a bit worried that particular friend had left. I hope that makes sense.

Huh?

I get it now. I wasn't thinking. "friend of ...." We had a friend of Cinderella and Alice on different Disney cruises years back and they would always recognize my daughter.

I love EasyWDW but had no idea he posted current wait times! Thanks for sharing!

I am a little worried about the monorail being closed until the end of December. The buses are probably going to be packed. Any thoughts?

We were at the MK yesterday. It was packed and I was so surprised that it was as crazy as it was. We stayed at Universal, and the other days of our trip, we took just about an hour to get from Cabana Bay to standing on Main Street in the MK. Yesterday, it took us 1 hour and 50 minutes to do that. We ran into traffic stopped from the minute I drove under the "welcome to Walt Disney World" arch at the edge of the property, all the way until the booths where you pay to park. When we got from the tram to approach the monoral to MK, the crowd waiting for the monorail went all the way down the ramp and ended in a massive crowd at the bottom of the ramp. We opted to take the ferry, which was almost completely full. When we arrived at the MK itself, bag check was just a huge mass of people almost all the way over to where you get off the ferry in one direction and all the way over to the monorail. Even if you didn't have to go thru bag check, you couldn't get to that entrance. I think we waited almost 30 minutes from when we got off the ferry to when we were thru bag check. We missed our first fast pass because I never imagined almost two hours from hotel to park.

Once we were in the park, it didn't seem any more crowded than Saturday was. Maybe it was just bad timing and we arrived at the same times as everyone else, but we were late enough that I really didn't expect that (we didn't get into the park until 11AM).

Ugh, we're going on Saturday and was hoping for very low crowds. I didn't realize that MNSSHP would make everything *that* insane or we'd have gone last week.

Oh well, we'll have fun anyway, but it would be nice if the crowds settle down a bit before next week LOL
We are going Saturday too, and I'm hoping for lower crowd levels also! Good luck to us both.pixiedust:

When is the monorail closing? I thought that the work on the monorail was more of an intermittent thing than a flat out closure?

Ok...I just went to look...it's not an outright closure. Here's what the WDWINFO page says:

  • Monorail- through December 2015. The monorail is under refurbishment and may have modified service or routes. You should check on the day of travel the best option to use. Alternative transportation options may be available.
