I am usually the sweet treat lady but for my DD6's holiday party I'm supposed to bring in a healthy treat. Someone else is already doing a veggie/fruit tray. Any ideas!?!?!?

Hmm, since the veggie/fruit tray is taken, how about pretzels. While they are a perfect treat they are certainly much better than cookies or cupcakes.

Our kids classes now bring crackers and cheese for a healthy alternative that goes with the fruit and veggies. The kids love it, but it is not a cheap snack to provide. Not truly healthy but some parents do jello jigglers in holiday shapes. One mom did her own yogurt cups...found pretty little holiday paper cups, spooned vanilla yogurt from the larger containers, and sprinkled red and green sprinkles on top. That was a hit too.
We've done popcorn and homemade Chex mix too, that was considered "healthy". Hope that helps a little!

baked tortilla chips with salsa. Just bring individual small paper bowls for the salsa so they can each have their own (no communal dipping.)

applesauce muffins

cheese (you can get reduced fat) & whole wheat crackers

I have seen "Snow Days" granola bars at Walmart. In addition to all the other healthy snacks already mentioned, I have also seen bagels and cream cheese and muffins.

All of the above are great tips, and I have another suggestion. When you are looking for contributions, we have had different parents provide a ziplok of cut-up fruit, then throw it all in a bowl at school and you have fruit salad! It's easy, and because one person brings grapes, another brings melon, etc, it's not expensive or burdensome for one person to make a fruit salad for everyone. And the kids love it!

When I bring in cheese I try to hit the grocery store when those 16oz pre-cubed mixed cheese bags are 3/$5 and use coupons. One or two of those bags with Ritz or Triscuits usually go over well. We've also brought in fruit such as bananas, drained chunk pineapple, grapes and made a fruit tray.

Most all kids love grapes, so for the Halloween party, I put about 8 grapes in little separate snack bags and they gobbled them up! I brought some extra in case they wanted more or the teacher, other moms wanted any.

You could make a fruit pizza... I don't remember the recipe off hand but you could google it. They are really easy to make, healthy, and delicous :)I always loved them as a kid.

I've done ritz pizzas and they are a huge hit! they won't be hot obviously but the kiddies love them! Just a ritz, a little bit of the ragu pizza sauce & sprinkle some mozz. cheese on top. Bake a tray for @ 5 min at 350 just until the cheese starts to melt on top.

Apple slices wrapped in turkey. DF and I always like to eat that for a snack and I've made it for my Brownie Troop before and they LOVED it!

I've made "kiddie Chex mix" which is just pretzels, Goldfish, and Cheerios.

I've also found that Rice Krispie treats are considered "healthy" because sugar isn't one of the top ingredients. I've made rice krispie treats, colored them green, and preessed them into my Christmas tree cupcake pan. If you're feeling creative, you can decorate them with Fruit Roll-ups (which I don't consider very healthy, but they are "legal" for our school).

I did grapes for the school halloween party too, but I hallowed out an orange, made it into a jack-o-lantern, and put the grapes in that. It was so much fun, and everyone loved them! Wasn't to hard, either.

The cheese cubes always went over well with our kids. One that the mom's didn't think would go over well but did, gogurt. We froze them. No fuss, no muss, just need a pair off scissors to open them.

Our schools went to a healthy alternative program a few years ago. If we offered cookies, we also had to offer something nutritious. It was a nice pleasant mix and great to watch the kids choose a lot of the healthier snacks over the sweets. They still took the sweets, but it wasn't the primary choice. They printed up a list for us of what they considered healthy choices. I can try and find it later if you like. I assume it is probably online. They put a lot of time and effort into making sure we had lots of choices.

Well, I decided on a sort of healthy snack. I got those little pretzels that are square (waffle variety). I'm going to bake them in the oven with a white chocolate/milk chocolate Hershey's kiss on top for just a few minutes. Then stick it in the fridge to set. They are YUMMY and not straight up sugar.

Oh! And when they come out of the oven, stick a holiday M&M on the kiss! Yummy!

If you can do peanut butter in your class you can make reindeer (I can't since my ds is allergic to peanuts as well as tree nuts & milk)...

Get 2 ritz crackers, slap some peanut butter in them (I guess you could do jelly too if you can't do PB). Get some raisins for eyes, a red m&m or that decorating gel & plop a blob of red for a nose.

Get the pretzels that are pretzel shape & cut them in half & put one on either side (towards the top) as antlers. I make these with oreos & I make spiders out of oreos too for Halloween using preztle sticks.
