Healthy Sweet Tooth snacks???

Thanks for that warning. I won't eat them at all. If it bothers most people in this one, just one will get me. Activia was another problem for me...:scared1:

Oh yeah, I'm another one who had mAJOR Activia problems...I'm talking like 2 hours after I tried it. Other than Activia, I love yogurt...it's cheap and if you read the labels, it's pretty good for you. I don't drink milk so it helps my calcium...I'm only 36 and in the beginning stages of Osteopenia :scared1:
Also, the Atkins bars you can find at Walmart in the diet section, are really good. They are (I think) expensive, but the Fudge Brownie Bar is to die for. I think I paid 5.87 for a box of 5. Thats a lot for cookies, LOL:scared1: BUT they taste like real desserts!

I love the Fiber One bars...I eat about one a day. I also have the Fiber One cereal (caramel delight). I've actually never had any issues so it must not work for me. :rotfl: But boy are they good!

On a side note, when looking for a healthier sweet tooth option, just beware of sugar free choices. Many times they can be a worse choice than their counterparts that do have sugar. So definitely compare.

If you like yogurt or ricotta cheese, you can buy the fat free, plain yogurt or ricotta and sweeten it with a low or no cal substitute of your choice and then add a touch of an extract flavoring of your choice to give it the flavor you want (lemon, vanilla, etc.) I add sunflower seeds to give it a little crunch.

Fruit.
Dried fruit. I like dried pineapple.

Healthy Choice fudge bars (fudgicles) I like the Mocha.
Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches. Lots of flavors to pick from.

Smuckers Fat Free & Sugar Free syrups. Come in Caramel or Chocolate. I dip apple slices in the caramel. Its sweetened with Splenda so no funny taste.

I think the Weight Watchers soda uses Splenda.

I only like sugar-free if it uses Splenda or something without horrible after taste.

I try to stay away from lots of the "granola" type bars. They have lots of sugar & carbs. We buy them, I just don't eat them often.

Kettle corn popcorn. any of the 100 cal snack size bags.

Kashi TLC cookies. I like the oatmeal with dark chocolate. There are only 8 in a pkg. So I only eat 1 cookie. It can be hard sometimes since they are so good.

I like the taste of Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches, but man those have a lot of carbs. I have gestational diabetes and have to watch my carb and sugar intake. "Low" or substituted sugar means nothing at all if the carb count is high...because carbs become sugar. I'm alloted 5-6 carb servings a day (approx 15g each serving). Just one of those sandwiches is two servings alone. Bummer...I do like them.

I am not big on sweets. In fact, I don't eat cake, cookies, chocolate or any of that stuff. When I want something that seems sweet, I eat raw carrots. My husband thinks I am crazy.

I second the Emerald cocoa dusted almonds, yum. I also love dried fruit, but I know it's not everyone's thing. If I have an ice cream craving, sometimes I'll have a Stonyfield chocolate underground yogurt instead. It's super chocolaty, almost too chocolaty at first (emphasis on the almost) and this is coming from a chocoholic.

Lisa,

You should probably read this link about agave. I just got it the other day. I get lots of stuff from the Mercola site and all of it seems to be pretty sound and backed by research. I've been hearing the agave "rumors" for about a year now.
http://articles.mercola.com/sites/a...0/beware-of-the-agave-nectar-health-food.aspx

thanks for the link about agave, I have been using agave for a long time.......i read mercola's site and never saw this, I am going to look for other sources of info on it as well

I love Larabars. They are sweet and are pure energy with nothing artificial added. The one I just picked up is called Pecan Pie and contains only Dates, Pecans, and Almonds.

love Larabars, they are so sweet and good:lovestruc

I have a shaved ice machine (can find them pretty cheap, around $15) and then have some shaved ice and pour sugar free syrups over it. Yum and zero calories! It is especially refreshing in the summer.

Banana dipped in chocolate and then frozen on a stick! Grapes also taste completely different when frozen.

Can also make sugar free instant pudding with skim milk.

I love Jello sugar free pudding cups. They're only 60 calories a pop and there's one variety now that's supposed to contain extra fiber & the organisms that promote digestive health. I don't know about all that, but it's darn tasty stuff. :thumbsup2

I'm also a huge fan of yogurt, especially the Yoplait dessert-related ones (e.g. Red Velvet Cake) and the new Yoplait parfait yogurt cups. The lemon ones are divine.

I first heard about this a few months ago (not from Mercola's site) when I was doing some research on fructose malabsorption. Somewhere in that research I read about the agave that is being mass-produced is not very good for you but is marketed as such. I didn't give it a lot of thought until I got the info from a Mercola e-mail. He usually doesn't put something out until there has been proof or published data so I find him to be pretty reliable on stuff like this.

Be careful with those fiber one bars, everyone raved about them at weight watchers, so when I was at BJS i bought a big old box of them. I ate one and got so sick to my stomach! When I tried to give the rest away I heard a lot of people have this problem. Ended up bringing erm to WW for people to "try" before they buy. lol

Oh there is a ww recipe pie that is delish!!I have made this with Strawberry, Lemon, & key lime. Just correlate the yogurt & jello and it will be yummy.

WW Key Lime Pie

1 box sugar free lime jello
1/4 C. boiling water
2 - 8 oz. containers lime yogurt
8 oz. fat free cool whip
1 - 9" low fat graham cracker crust

Dissolve jello in boiling water. Cool slightly

Stir in yogurt.

Fold in cool whip.

Pour into crust and chill.

Sounds yummy! Do you know how many points a slice is?

I also had problems with the Fiber 1 bars. Totally tore up my stomach and intestines and I finally took them into the office.

The dgf makes a fluff that we are figuring is around 100 calories per 1/2 cup. She uses fat free cool whip, fat free cottage cheese. It has mandarin oranges, a well drained can of crushed pineapple, and two boxes of sugar free jello mix we use peach her mom uses orange. I love the stuff when she makes it..

I am currently IN LOVE with Quaker Rice Cakes in Chocolate flavor. :lovestruc They hit the spot.

What kind of illness are we talking about from fiber one bars??? diarrhea?? Where can I get those Larabars and cocoa dusted almonds??
Thanks

My experience with any of those Fiber bars is bloating, cramping, gas and diarrhea. Not a pleasant experience!
