Since we're doing sit downs for dinner every night, we're going to try to do counter service for lunch at MK and MGM. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a healthy light lunch?? (vegetarian would be a plus).

thanks!

katie :)

In MK, Cosmic Ray's has a nice selection of food including a veggie burger as well as salad and soup, etc. in addition to burgers and chicken.

www.allearsnet.com has a dining section and has quite a few menus printed there - might want to take a look.

Have a great trip.

I love the salads at columbia harbor house in mk and the salad at the pizza planet is very filling too. The ingredients can be found at the allears site.

We just added the Plaza Restaurant at MK to our meal itinerary for next week and I noticed that they have a vegetable sandwich that sounds very good. I haven't eaten there before so I don't know how light it is but it sounds yummy. It's a sit down restaurant but I THINK it is a bit less crowded and informal than the other restaurants. I made a PS but I don't think this is a restaurant that many people make PSs for. Here's the description:

Fresh Vegetable Sandwich - fresh spinach, hummus, grilled portobello mushrooms and roasted red peppers, rolled in a tomato-basil wrap served with sweet potato chips $8.99.

I'm not a big fan of most of the restaurants at MGM but you can get some fresh fruit, pickles, etc at the area off to the left as you head toward ToT (can't remember what it's called).

At Epcot I really like the Tangerine Cafe in Morocca. You can have a nice vegatarian meal there with an assortment of salads, hummus, and Moroccan bread.

We usually eat at the Rainforest Cafe at AK, so I'm not familiar with the counter service restaurants there.

Columbia harbor house in the MK is one of my favorites! and i am a vegetarian. they have the best veggie chili that come in a bread bowl... they also have a broccoli slaw sandwich that i enjoy as well. the prices are very reasonable. i haven't found a favorite place at MGM, we usually just do snacks like pretzels when we are there.

HTH!

hotveggy,

thanks. i had actually seen the hummus broccoli slaw sandwich on the menu and thought it looked good, so i'm glad to hear that it gets your approval!

When I was last at Columbia Harbour House the chili was not in a bread bowl any more (this was in February). The made it sound like they just didn't do it that way any more, but hopefully I'll find out in a couple weeks. I haven't tried the broccoli slaw sandwich since I don't like broccoli, but I think my DH had it and liked it.

I've had the veggie burger at Cosmic Ray's, which was ok, but I prefer grain based vegie burgers as opposed to soy.

I'm not sure about MGM. We like 50's Prime Time Cafe (sit-down) and always eat there. Do you have children? If so, they like the atmosphere at Pizza Planet, assuming you eat cheese.

I also like the veggie chili at Columbia Harbor House. It wasn't in a bread bowl this summer. They also have a good caesar salad, as do many of the counter service places. I didn't really care for the veggie burger at Cosmic Ray's. It was okay, but when you see the big, juicy cheeseburger and the great roasted chicken meal, it seems a little bland.

I didn't like the Cosmic Ray veggie burgers too much either so I stuck with grilled chicken sandwiches. They gave me a small package of baby carrots instead of fries :D
