Hi

As I have several table service meals organised and don't want to return to th UK twice the size that I left ( Which is what normally happens :guilty: ) could anyone advise of some low fat/ healthy counter service snacks and lunches for Epcot , MK, DTD and WL?

Thanks

I always get the turkey sandwich on what bread/roll with fruit at the American pavillion cs at EPCOT. Healthy & yummy.

You can eat healthy but don't worry about eating a few special treats. I think most restaurants offer some healthy choices like, lean meat sandwhiches, wraps, salads, roasted chicken, etc...

The Columbia Harbor House at the MK (near the HM) has a yummy hummus and broccoli slaw sandwich as well as a tuna salad selection. I'm actually looking forward to that sandwich again!

In Epcot, you can get healthy snacks at several countries. For example, Norway's counter service has yummy open-faced salmon sandwiches and you can get sushi or noodle soup in Japan.

I have been very pleased with the healthy choices that are available at virtually every WDW restaurant. Other than Casey's Corner (the hot dog stand on Main St. in MK) I can't think of anyplace where there wasn't a fairly healthy choice on the menu.

A couple of my favorite counter service restaurants for healthy choices are Columbia Harbour House in MK, Tusker House in AK, Sunshine Season in The Land at Epcot, and Tangerine Cafe in Morocco at Epcot.

Check out the menus at www.allearsnet.com

Click on dining and off you go! You can review menus for the parks, resorts and DDD.

I agree that there is at least one lower fat/healthy choice at the counter service restaurants.

We love Tusker House at AK! Since we are not a burger/fries family, I thought we might have a difficult time finding alternate choices. Not so! We found lots to choose from with just a little bit of pre-planning.

Enjoy!

I love the Garden Galley Salad (mixed greens with chicken, pecans, pineapple and feta cheese $6.39) at Columbia Harbour House (Liberty Square, MK).

After losing 40 pounds since Feb. and still going I too was concerned about this in WDW. I started a thread a while back and got many responses:

don't know if you will have to cut and paste that one. It seems that pretty much all CS meals have some sort of salads, wraps, and food other than burgers and fries. I have also checked out TS menus and all of them have some sort of salads, seafood, or at least chicken dishes that would be healthy too. I am alot less concered about eating junk for 2 weeks while in the world, and with all the extra walking may even lose weight :rotfl: (wishful thinking). My plan is maintain. As long as I don't gain more than say 5 lbs I know once I''m back home, I can get strict about my "diet" again.

Tip:DO NOT GO TO MCDONALDS IF YOU ARE WANTING TO LOOSE WEIGHT. :rotfl2:

I have digestive/dietary concerns. This is a list that I have compiled of entress that are low-fat, low-calorie for the most part.

Also, keep in mind if you want something on the menu that is a child's portion - ask for it! They may charge you a bit more, but you can order either small portions or something served with fruits, etc. If you have any more questions, please PM me.

You can unofficially bring in some healthy snacks of your own. We brought fruit, dry cereal and sandwiches on whole wheat.

We're on the 'Picture Perfect' program, eating both healthy and low cal...

Our cs plans include dining at Columbia Harbor House in MK (they have vegetarian chili on the menu, along with all of the other healthy choices already mentioned). Tusker House in DAK offers a grilled Salmon dinner, while Flame Tree has that tempting BBQ chicken salad. And at Epcot, we agree that Sunshine Seasons (in The Land) offers a lot of wonderful options.

I don't know if I would recommend trying that. Security makes anyone with food throw it away and they check bags pretty good these days.

We always pack some snacks in our bags. Some fruit....peanut butter...cheese (kept cold of course)..granola... We have low blood sugar issues (myself)...and my 13 yr old is a borderline diabetic right now. We can't rely on the parks or being able to get food fast if someone's BS goes south. Plus we pack our own bottles of water....I refuse to pay $3.00 for a single bottle when I can get 12 at home for $3.00...lol

Security has never said one word to us in the last 10 trips. No need to worry...

have fun,

I'm not saying bring in grocery sacks full of food or a huge rolling cooler, but we've had 3 trips to Disney in 2 years and have not had any problems bringing in food and SEVERAL bottles of water. We put food in our diaper bag, back pack and even bring in a small insulated lunch sack. At least once during each trip, we packed our lunch and ate it while in the park. I've read several accounts of people bringing in soft-sided coolers and they haven't had to throw food away.

Suzanne--Did security make you throw away food or did you see someone else who was made to throw away food? Has ANYONE seen this being done at security?

We have always brought in food and water bottles and security never said a word about it.

I would be interested to hear if anyone actually experienced or saw anyone being told to throw food away. That seems extreme!

Actually just about all counter service places have healthy options these days. Here are some specific suggestions -- then check out the menus at http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm

MK: Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station, Columbia Harbour House
Epcot: Sunshine Season in the Land Pavilion, Tangerine Cafe (Morocco)
MGM: Studio Catering, Anaheim Produce
AK: Tusker House
