Healthy eating?

Hello everyone. I was curious what counter service and table service meals would be deemed "healthy." I've already lost 30 pounds and I don't want to screw it up by eating poorly in Disney. God forbid I might resent Disney if I put it all back on.

I think if you check out the menus first, you'll find that most places offer healthy selections for those that desire them. Many restaurants have vegetarian selections, and often the chefs will work with you and your dietary requirements. My successful plan is this: I have a plate of fresh fruit first at any breakfast buffet (it works!). I drink lots of water throughout the day. I share a lunch with DH or DD, or usually just have a snack since we probably had a big breakfast at a buffet! I try to have a green salad as my appetizer every night, and then choose a lean meat entree and share dessert with DH. With the 5-7 miles of walking we do every day at WDW (I clocked it on my pedometer!), we pretty much indulge whenever we want and walk it all off.

I pretty much eat what I want, two sit downs a day and at least one dessert a day and with all the miles you walk at Disney I usually don't gain anything, at the most a couple pounds. I've lost 52 to date and definitely enjoy the delicious food and don't worry about it.

I went on a vacation once where I followed my diet "to the T" and felt so deprived when I came home not to have had any of my favorites, that now I eat what I like, but like I said, we will only have 2 meals a day and then a really light meal or a snack. With all the walking, swimming and general activity in a day I do fine.

You can certainly do it though if you put your mind to it. They do have many healthy choices at Disney World that if you want, I'm sure you will still be able to pretty much find foods on your program to eat.

With all the walking, even on the DDP so long as I stay away form alcoholic beverages I never gain weight. If I indulge in alcoholic beverages then I tend to gain like 8 lbs. in a two week vacation. I hate the setback. One of the things I try to do is use my snack credits for fruit, try to avoid carb/sugar rich foods and always have salad as an appetizer and usually at least every other day for CS. Check the menus so you can avoid places that do not have at least one healthy alternative.

I have been dieting in anticipation of our trip in August. The primary reason is because I'm afraid that time of year will be really hard on me if I'm packing an extra 30 lbs. I have already decided that I'm not going to deny myself the treats I've been looking forward to -- but will ask the servers to give me a half portion (thus saving me from myself!). I'll be on the DDP so they can charge me full price, I don't really care. I honestly have no will power and will snarf down anything they put in front of me...so less is better!!!

Also, DH and I have agreed to use our CS credits to always get a salad of some kind and a sandwich which we will then share. That way we both get our veggies but also get to have something more solid.

I am nervous about this too.
I really enjoy the food in Disney, but do not want to ruin my hard work.
I think I'll try to stop eating when I am full, instead of stuffing myself. Novel concept. We will see how it goes!
