My wife's keen to avoid any unhealthy food. Any suggestions for good healthy places to eat in the park? Also are you ok to bring your own food in?

There is fruit available everywhere. Check the menus for healthier options. Bring food in is not really reccomended.

We always bring a bag of healthy snacks and frozen water bottles for the kids into the parks with us. No one ever says anything.

Bringing in a bag of snacks is totally fine. As for healthier eating- i suggest going through the menus on allears to see what appeals to you. There are lots of fruit vendors throughout the park. Tokyo Dining has a great sushi menu and I also found the Tusker House buffet had a lot of healthier different options (rather than just a piece of fruit etc). Good luck- it can be rather tough to find healthy fun options there.

Like others have said, we always have brought in water, fruit and snacks on our own. Fruit is available at carts as well as on most menus. I used a few of our snack credits for the fruit cart in AK last fall and our hotel also sold fruit and yogurt. Disney seems to have many healthy choices - more so than in years gone by.

We find it quite easy to eat healthy at WDW:thumbsup2 There are fruit and healthy options everywhere; choose carrots as a side at the counters; portion sizes are huge so our family of 4 always share each course and feel free to tell the sit down waiters how you want a certain item prepared--they are more than happy to accomodate:surfweb: popcorn:: :cool2: princess:

Columbia Harbor House in the MK also has a relatively healthful menu. We really love the anchors aweigh (tuna) sandwich. It's yummy! :thumbsup2

A couple of places come to mind...

Sunshine Season Food Fair at Epcot has many choices for healthier eating. Plus it allows for everyone in the party to find something different (and tasty) for a meal.

Liberty Tree Tavern at the Magic Kingdom is our favorite sit down restaurant at that park and they have several healthy alternatives to the fast food eateries. Even their really filling items (such as the turkey dinner) are less "sinful" than some of the offerings at the food stands.

:thumbsup2

For CS I would suggest Columbia Harbor House in MK, Sunshine Seasons or Tangerine Cafe in Epcot, and Flame Tree BBQ in AK.

It depends on what you mean by healthy.

Organic food is hard to find at Disney (I think a few signature places have organic options).

Its hard to find whole grains. A lot of sit down places will have the option, harder to get a chicken sandwich on a whole grain bun at counter service.

Most places will serve salads. Most will serve some sort of leaner chicken dish. Milk and bottled water (WDW is a Coke partner - so its Dasani) is always available - but again, it isn't organic milk.

Vegetarians will always find an option, although they may wish to check menus over to pick places there the option is one they find appealling.

Disney is not all burgers, fries and chicken fingers (you can always sub carrots or something for fries) - but neither is it a place where you are going to be able to load up on your orange and dark green leafy veggies at every meal. I know a lot of people are unhappy with the "new healthier" menus (particularly for kids) - and I know a lot of people who wouldn't put anything bought at Disney into their body (those types don't travel much at all - and when they do, they buy their own food and prepare it).

You can bring in food. People even pack in their lunches.

I have been a "healthy" eater for almost 2 years now and I never have a problem meeting my quota of fruits, veggies, low fat dairy, lean proteins and whole grains. I avoid most CS unless I just need a snack or drink and always ask if I don't see something I want. I do however, relax a bit at WDW and eat a hot dog on at least one day! I also eat desserts sometimes!!

I am a pretty healthy eater and don’t find it hard to eat healthy at Disney. My favorite places are Boma in the AKL and The new menu at the Tusker House. Of course both are buffets so be careful, 3,000 calories of couscous and vegiatables is still 3,000 calories.

If you want to avoid buffets you can get something healthy just about anywhere but I like Restaurant Marrakesh the best. I got their salmon when I was there last time and it was very good.

We often manage to find several reasonably healthy places to eat whilst at the world. The Tangerine Cafe in Morocco isn't bad and also the Plaza in Magic Kingdom is very nice, but a little expensive for sandwiches and salads.

Sunshine Seasons in Epcot has lots of healthy options. There's also a lot of variety there.

Definitely Sunshine Seasons at the Land Pavilion at EPCOT. You could eat there a couple days in a row and still have stuff to choose from. I am jonesin' for that beet and goat cheese salad...mmmmm...drying spit from keyboard now...

Boma
Tusker House
Yakatori house (Japan Counter Service)
SEASONS FOOD COURT IN EPCOT!!!
Columbia House
Pizza Planet (veggie pizza with salad)
