Health Insurance?

I have accepted my offer for Spring Advantage. However, since I will not be a full time student, I cannot be covered by my parent's health insurance (my mom checked today). Has anyone else run into this situation? I wasn't sure what alternatives are available since I was guessing that health insurance is not offered as part of the CP.

No, health insurance is not included in the CP. The only thing you can do is check with your insurance and see if they cover students taking part in internships. I was fortunate that even though my school wouldn't give credit for it, my health insurance considered it an internship. Good luck!

See if you can be a co-op student. I know my recruiter said something along those lines to a student who had that same question at the presentation.

I had insurance, but because I was "out of the service area" there would have been a 100 dollar deductible. There is a clinic just outside of Disney property that can diagnose basic illnesses and it was 100 or less each time I went(went 2 times) so the insurance was essentially useless.

I'm co-oping, taking 15 hours of classes as well, so I'm still covered on my parents' insurance. My dad just checked and told me I am, thankfully.

You can buy a basic short term policy pretty inexpensively - we got Health Assurant for our daughter while she was on the CP.

Thanks Liz! I'm definitely going to look into that - since I'm a year older than what my parent's insurance will cover (if I'm not a full time student), I was looking for something that was short term and inexpensive.
