I'll try to keep this simple although it's really not.

Open enrollment for 2011 health insurance. My company is offering an HSA (Health Savings Account) as one of the options. I would like to sign up for this BUT...

My wife's company provides an HRA (Health Reimbursement Account) to those employees who "opt out" of their health insurance. Since she is on my policy, she gets those HRA dollars (not an insubstantial sum).

So, here's my confusion and I'm getting conflicting reports (so far) between DW's HR rep and the reps who visited my workplace to offer the HSA. Am I (and family including DW) eligible for MY HSA even if she gets money from her employer in an HRA.

Any links to supporting documentation would be handy. I looked at the IRS site that discusses HRAs & HSAs, but I'm still not sure.

TIA.

How about this link, does it help? I know a bit about HSAs (love them) but a bit fuzzy on how they work with other plans.

My spouse has an FSA or HRA through their employer, can I have HSA?
You cannot have an HSA if your spouse’s FSA or HRA can pay for any of your medical expenses before your HDHP deductible is met.

Try this link too. Sounds like you need a bit more information about her HRA?
