In case y'all aren't on their email... the store is going out of business. They are closed today and wednesday to prepare for their going out of business sale that starts thursday the 19th at 7am. I LOVE that store! I'm so sad! maggie

So sorry to hear that but can't say that I am surprised. With that new big store right near you and then an ACMoore opening up....it was a loosing battle......

I got the email this morning. My punch card is almost done too, oh well. I'm disappointed that I can't drive all the way down there to get anything. Work is extremely crazy now. At least we still have the store in Chantilly. It's near my office, so I go often at lunchtime.

I don't think it had much to do with recollections at all we are a good 40-45 minutes away. maggie

Oh my ... I love MSS. But I figured when AC Moore opened just a few doors down it would pull business from MSS. And I'm guilty of shopping in both stores.

Oh no! i love that store! i bet it was ACMoore that drove it out of businness.

someone posted on 2peas that since their lease was up in july they decided not to renew and I think the owner has 3 youngish kids and perhaps just got tired of the daily grind of owning a store and wants to spend more time with family. (and here's where I take the unpopular viewpoint... perhaps not all the closings are totally related to the chain stores... ) I'm going to miss the store though. maggie

You're right not all closings are due to the big chains moving in. My favorite scrap store closed due to the fact she couldn't handle her magazine and the store so one had to go. She choose the mag. It made a lot more money!

I have a feeling the one small scrap store near me will be history by Jan. We are getting a super Joanne's. Not that it will be all scrapping but they say the scrap area will be huge. The LSS near that is just surviving. It is very sad.
She isn't looking to make huge bucks she just wants to be able to cover her cost. I try to stop in about every other week but I have to admit, I stuggle to find stuff to buy! :confused3
