Heads up - Nationwide to start charging on $ transactions....

Ive just been accepted for a post office card. Hopefully it will turn up quite quickly.

I need to add DH as an additional card holder but guess i will have to wait until the first card turns up to do this.

I may be being a bit dumb here but isn't it only a £10 charge in every £1000 or have I missed something (probably knowing me).
Even though it is no more free, 1% isn't too much to outlay or do they add another charge every tome you use it?

You're right, it is only £10 in every £1,000 and there is no additional charge per transaction.

It is £10/£1,000 but its a fee that does not need to be paid, to me its exactly like the $10 fee to have tickets sent to UK from Disney. Why pay it when you pass the window and collect free? many will pay it I think its like flushing $10 down the toilet, no reason to pay it.
In the past 12 months In $'s I have paid for 3 cruises, 1 lot of flights and 8 weeks of spending money in US, works out at between $18,000-20,000. or£180-200 in fees at 1%.
But I am type of person that pays off every month, couldn't imagine paying a credit card 1p in interest. I am exactly the type of customer they hate and probably reason Nationwide are imposing the fee.:goodvibes

Yeah, we are exactly the same, paying off in full credit cards. Thanks to this thread we have cancelled our Nationwide as we don't want to pay charges when we don't need to. We already had the Abbey Zero card and have just got the PO card which we will use as a back up card. We always take 4 cards, carrying 2 different to each other in case of theft or loss.

We have the Nationwide Cashback card does that mean that if we do/don't use it we will be charged or is this for foreign transactions only??

Just for foreign transactions and I think someone said outside Europe. Have a look on their website there is a notice.

I already had a PO card but Dh has just applied and been accepted.

Thanks for the heads up x
