I have never seen or heard this being done before. I saw no mention of it from Disney, but evidently if I had been stalking my app while traveling that day I might have noticed if I clicked on a certain character I would see "wristband event". Well I don't live in my Disney app and I didn't see this. You have to get a wristband to see Huey, Dewey and Louie, Darkwing Duck, Scrooge. Evidently these bands were handed out prior to the event starting at 9 over at the theatre by Toontown. They were gone quickly. Not cool.

All in all this event was handled they way they tend to handle these events. Not super organized. The location for some on the printed map didnt match the app. WAY too many just photo ops without characters. 30 min wait to take a photo with a 90's nite backdrop.

Is it odd that the fanny pack was a big highlight of our night? SO much better than a lanyard we have always gotten in the past at other events.

We are a Disney loving family so we all left happy as usual but with a few disappointments. Like no Mickey or Minnie... like what the.... were they not around in the 90's? I am a big sucker for when they put Mickey in Minnie in new outfits so I was not happy when they were not even at the final farewell.

FYI. RISE closed at 7pm and did not reopen.

I watched a YouTube video of the event and I have to say this is probably one of the worst after dark events they have done. I get that the character meet & greets get long but to have a VQ or wrist band for them seems wrong. Especially since they started the distribution before the event began. That is just wrong.

Yep. And no real heads up from Disney. There were many people very angry.

I'm not a Characters person (although I do enjoy seeing kids interact with the ones walking around), but seems a few extra characters for photo ops would solve some of the lines issues. In this case Mickey and Minnie in 90s attire. I'll mention they have some Very iffy photographers (newbie mistakes like unflattering angles or poles coming out the heads of people they are photographing) so they are not spending too much on pros or training lol. I'm usually fine with a CM using my cell camera so I can actually see if there is one decent photo before leaving the park...

Right? Like why have 5 different characters at one photo area behind a wristband wall. We would been thrilled with just one of the nephews but instead we got none.

Yes. Even Mickey and Minnie could be separate photo areas so double the number of people could interact or get photos with them!

I went on Tuesday. We weren't interested in character photo ops, but I felt so badly for those who were excited about this. There was no obvious mention that this was how they planned to handle it. We went to see what was going on in the theater at 8:30, so 30 minutes before the party started. We heard that we couldn't go down, and that return times were long gone!

My SIL wanted a 90s Nite sweatshirt. She was told they sold out about the time the party started! Apparently they were selling them pre-party? Regardless, they didn't have nearly enough available.

In our opinion, this After Dark event was waaaaaaay oversold.

I thought since tickets are still available for awhile it wasnt going to be as popular. I guess maybe they were just selling more tickets.

We thought the exact same thing! When we looked at ride times they definitely didn't look like "party wait times." Multiple 40 minute lines whenever we checked. Lines everywhere we went. We waited for 20 minutes in line at Café Daisy mobile order pickup window once we got the blue screen.

Waited 36 minutes for drinks as well. It's unfortunate because we flew out just for this event. We will still probably do it again, just waiting for the survey so I can tell Disney how I feel and maybe just maybe they adjust according to peoples surveys.

We flew in specifically for this event as well. We attended 80s Nite 5 years ago and my sister and I STILL refer to it as one of the best nights of our lives. 😆 Music is such a big part of these nights for me. I felt like they had a playlist of about 20 songs this time. With a decade of songs to choose from, you shouldn't hear the same songs 6 or 7 times in 4 hours! We were "betting" on certain songs we were sure we would hear. We were way off. No Ice Ice Baby? No N'Sync? Maybe we were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Still, we were shocked at the lack of variety in music. I have had Powerline songs stuck in my head since the party. 😄 We still had lots of fun. Hoping 80s Nite comes back next year. Although that was pre-Covid, so if they do bring it back, they would probably cut a lot of corners/make a lot of cuts so it wouldn't be as great.

We heard backstreet boys but no n'sync. I can say the music this 90's nite was WAY better than they had at Star Wars Nite last year.

In my eyes I think this is a new thing that Disneyland is experimenting with so people wanting to meet certain characters can meet them easily without waiting in long long lines to see characters during meet and greets. For one thing character meet and greets have always been free with park admission and YOU CANNOT use a special wristband to meet and greet characters and you NEVER could in the first place. So I can't figure out why Disneyland has this rule during these After Dark Nights in the first place? What I think you should do VGCgroupie is call Disneyland and complain about your 90's Night experience and hopefully they'll will give you something good on your next trips. But I just hope meeting characters with a wristband isn't gonna be the new style of meet and greets at Disneyland or Walt Disney World in the future

Did you call Disneyland today and tell them your experience at 90's Night yet VGCgroupie? I'm curious to know what they told you

I really hope they dont do that with characters moving forward. And if they feel they must then it should be clearly communicated so people know in advance.
