Just read this tonight on another site:

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- It's a tea party fit for a princess at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Youngsters can don their favorite dress-up costumes and enjoy tea filled with fantasy and delight at the new My Disney Girl's Perfectly Princess Tea Party offered in the Garden View Lounge beginning June 10.

Every Thursday through Monday from 10:30 a.m.-noon, little princesses will get the royal treatment with tea for two, deliciously decorative princess cakes, plus a personal meet-and-greet with Princess Aurora from the classic Disney animated film "Sleeping Beauty." The enchanting tea party is hosted by "Rose Petal," a magical rose from Aurora's garden that has come to life to lead storytelling, sing-alongs and a princess parade.

But that's just the beginning of the magical experience. Guests age 3-11 also receive a "My Disney Girl" collectible doll dressed in a matching Princess Aurora gown, plus accessories. Special princesses also take home their very own sparkling tiara, silver Princess link bracelet, rose, special princess scrapbook page, and a "Best Friend" certificate.

The cost for one adult and one child, ages 3-11, is $200, including gratuity. Each additional adult is $65, and $135 for each additional child. Reservations will be accepted beginning May 26 through 407/WDW-DINE.

Makes me thankful I got boys! Cheap...cheap...cheap!:teeth:

LOL aunt polly that's what I thought!

Sounds really nice, but geez it sure is expensive.

Let's see my 4year DD would loose all those trinkets in about 3 hours.

WOW!! What are they CRAZY!!!???!!! My little princesses won't be attending this event!!;)

I saw that they had that last year and thought the price was outrageous. Must be real diamonds in that tiara! But a lot of people must have gone if they brought it back!

They tested this last fall. My girlfriend was in WDW in November 2003 and she and her daughter did this. She said her daughter had a wonderful time. I am going to see her tomorrow so I will ask for more details and her thoughts.

When she got back and told me how much it cost, I almost fell off my chair!!!

:( :( :( DD LOVES Aurora, but that price is ridiculous. :( :( :(

I can't figure out why an adult is $65, that must be really delicious cake ;)

I was sitting here going "Awwww they must look so precious in their little princess gowns having tea" and then I saw the price and agreed with auntpolly.

And my DH thought the $28.00 for the Alice Tea Party we have DD signed up for in a couple weeks was kind of steep. Wait until I tell him he got off EASY!!!!!!

I'm glad its not happening when we are there. It's so ridiculously expensive, but I'd probably get caught up in the "magic" of the moment, drop the cash and then end up kicking myself on the flight home for spending so much.

I have called numerous times over the past couple of months trying to book this for a friend who is interested in it, but have never found anyone who has even heard of it. The put the name in and come up with nothing. They put the location in and come up with nothing.

HOW do you track this thing down? I am truly perplexed.

I'm not surprised. We all know how un-informed the CMs are and we usually know things before them.

It says you can start calling May 26 and start booking from June 10 on. So maybe they'll have it in their computers for May 26??

Boo,

Do tell more about the Alice Tea Party. Sounds like something my DD would like to do. Is this available year round or only for a limited time? How would I get more info about that. Thanks!

Taken from right here on the DIS at Wonderland Tea Party

Wonderland Tea Party

Even children can experience some of the charms that the Grand Floridian has to offer in one of its most recent offerings, the Wonderland Tea Party. At this pint-size tea party, guests from 3 to10 years of age will hear stories, have a little lunch and be entertained by some Disney characters known to participate in a famous tea party of their own. The children will take a “hands-on” approach to their dining as they finger-paint/decorate their own cupcakes and munch on heart-shaped peanut butter and jam sandwiches. Chocolate dipped Rice Krispie squares, and the Grand Floridian’s special brand of children’s tea (aka apple juice) is also served.

The “Wonderland Tea Party” is offered Monday and Wednesday and Friday afternoons from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and the cost is $28.17 per child. There is a maximum of 25 children to ensure that each child gets a lot of personal attention from the entertainment (Mad Hatter & Alice usually, but this is subject to change) and the recreation Cast Members. Parents are welcome to stay and observe the fun, but may prefer to use the time to book a spa treatment, shop (in the elegant Grand Floridian shops), take a walking tour of the beautiful grounds, have a quick lunch at the Grand Floridian Café, rent watercraft at the marina or just sit and enjoy the ambience of the magnificent lobby. Call (407)WDW-DINE to book this or check with Guest Services at the resort. This can be booked 120 days in advance.

Cancellations must be done at least 24 hours in advance or there is a $10 “no show” charge. Children attending the Tea Party must be potty trained and must arrive 15 minutes prior to tea-time.

DD attended the Wonderland Tea Party and it was a wonderful experience. If she wanted to do that again I would let her, but the idea of 2 days salary to pay for a teaparty is just not going to happen! As for the trinkets--still doesn't make up for the inflated cost of cupcakes! I know I sound negative, but really put this in perspective a $200 tea party for the 3-11 crowd! How much did dinner cost the night you got engaged? What did you pay per plate for your wedding? To each his own, but this sounds like a great way to divert park traffic and still make money!;)

My DD's loved Wonderland Tea Party last year. I made PS's for it again this year and Pirate Cruise for 2 dds and ds. DH would probably have a heart attack at $335 for myself and 2 dds to attend Princess Tea Party (although I'd love to). Since we were even supposed to go again until next year I'm not going to chance it. But if they keep doing it you can be sure I'll be squirreling away disney dollars to do it next year.

I have 2 DDs too and isn't the total for the 3 of you (or the 3 of us) $400!!!!?????

My DH just laughed at me when I told him.

Oh well.

Thank you for the info on the Wonderland Tea Party. I'm considering this for my DD for our next trip.

Now....the Pirates Cruise....I just read a description of it here on DIS and it doesn't mention whether a parent accompanies the child. I'd be a little hesitant to let me 4 year old DS go on a boat without a parent present. Anyone know if parents can go along? Thanks!

1. It would be $335 for the three of us. $200 for mother/daughter and extra $135 for other dd!

2. Pirate Cruise - parents don't accompany kids. I'm letting my ds (who will be 4) go, but his older sisters (5 and turning 7) will be with him. I did see other 4/5 year old kids going last year and they seemed fine but I'd be hesitant to let my ds go without sisters since he is just turning four.

I see thanks for pointing that out! I was thinking it was $200 for just the first DD, $65 for me and then $135 for my other DD. Still my DH won't allow it unless I can come up with that money between now and October!!!
