I just got an iphone4 today from hubby for Valentine's day:love:

I have never even had an iPod before. I guess I am finally going to join the 21st century:banana:

I don't like the in-ear headphones, I do not find them comfortable. Can anyone suggest a headphone that is still light weight enough for exercise and walking?

Thanks and Happy Valentine's Day to all:cheer2:

It is kind of a personal choice and it might take some experimentation. There are tons of choices online and in the stores.

Regular earbuds hurt my ears as well. I wear some that wrap over the ear so when working out they stay put. But the earbud part of it does not go into my ear which also lets me hear more going on around me. I have a friend who wears old style padded headphones when walking because the earbuds hurt.

If you want to be able to use the phone part while using the headphones, don't forget to look for ones with the speaker piece in them.

My oldest son just got an iphone & he just uses the ones that came with it because it has the speaker piece. We priced them at BestBuy the other day & they are like $40 & up.

The input for the iPhone jack is a little deeper than a normal iPod or other device - so you'll either need earphones made for iPhone or you'll need an adapter. I found a Phillips adapter that included the speaker piece at Target a year or so ago that I can use any headphones with. I don't like the earbuds either - they won't stay in my ears and they hurt, si I use an over-the-ear set that I love. It's a personal preference thing, I think. My DH loves the buds.

I don't have an iPhone, but I have an Android (HTC Evo) and I LOVE my bluetooth headphones. No more messing with cords all over the place!

DH and I both have these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875982248&cm_re=motorola_bluetooth_headphones-_-75-982-248-_-Product
And despite the mixed reviews we took the leap to give them a shot. Both of us have been using ours since August/September and run almost daily with them (and I jam mine in and out of my gym bag), with no problems. Sounds like others' mileage with them varies, but at $36 they're a bargain in the bluetooth headphone realm!

Do you know what you are giving up by not using them? The volume controls, the pause, skip forward, back options that are built into them. I like using them there while my phone is strapped to my arm or in a pocket, never having to touch it till I am done with the workout.
Just my .02

This is not necessarily true. I use my Bose noise-canceling headphones with my iPhone 4, and I've had them before iPhones even existed. They work fine with no adapter.
