i finally booked my first solo trip. i was going to try POP but waited too long to book and there wasn't anything left for my dates. i was thinking of postponing the trip but work got to me and totally stressed me out so when i came in this morning, i made it my mission to find airfare and took whatever room i could get. i am booked at POR-FQ. i have never stayed at the same disney resort twice so will still be a new adventure.

i was going to have "no ground floor" notated on my ressie. is there anything else with regards to traveling solo to POR. anything i should know (good and bad). TIA.

I have stayed at POR solo but not POFQ.

you know that POFQ does not have a sit down restuarant only a food court... right????

it has a great pool for kids. most of the adults like the spa pool...

I might unless the pool was almost empty - go over to POR - there is a quiet pool not too far from POFQ.

POFQ only has one pool. It shares with POR - so it is quite safe to go pool hopping here.

enjoy the entertainment in the lounge - but not too much....

POFQ is very nice and quiet. It does have a food court, no restaurant. Still pleasant try the beignets. :sunny: Nice boat ride to Downtown Disney.

POFQ is a great place to stay as a solo. It is a smaller resort, so there really aren't any "boonies" to risk being place at. When I travel solo, more often than not I am placed way out in the farthest corners of resorts, which I hate since complete isloation is not what I am looking for! But at POFQ, it's very compact, so it's very easy to get around, and I never felt isolated there. And the boat to DownTown Disney is great, too! :)

should i be thinking of switching to riverside as a solo? i think there were rooms available or just stick with french quarter?

Personally, I think POFQ is the ideal solo mod resort because of it's smallness. Only 1 bus stop, no out-of-the-way buildings and I've ALWAYS felt safe there - POR just seems to large for me solo. But this is just my opinion!! :teeth:

depends upon you.

I would stay!

if you feel that you need a quiet pool or a restuarant - then move to POR.

if you think you will be happy without these things then stay at POFQ.

POFQ has one bus stop then the bus goes to POR 4 stops before leaving to the parks.

so you stand a much chance of getting to sit down with POFQ.

remember these are sister resorts - so if the pools is too crowded for you - just walk over to POR closest pool... or if you want a restuarant call and make a AP with boatwrights at POR - then just walk over. It is not far - what 10 minutes....

I agree with the former posters. My family stayed at POFQ last August and it definately would be a great resort to go solo to. DTD is only a boat ride away and the buses are really awesome. Have a great time and as always.

Laissez les bon temps roullez!!!

thanks for the replies. i decided to keep what i have. now that the trip is all paid for, i am getting so excited, and nervous. first solo trip but i'm ready. now i have to think about sitdown restaurants i may want to try. only ate once by myself and that was at lunch time near my office. a little scared but i really want to do dinner and choose places i've always wanted to try but couldn't with the kids in tow.

thanks again for the help :cool1:

i'm goin in april. i am starting to stray a little though. everyday i log onto the internet and begin to buy my niece a ticket to go with me. i so want to do this solo this time but knowing the fun we would have is making me constantly change my mind. i'm safe for now; talked myself off that ledge and for now am still going solo. my niece is off from school for spring break and i had planned on taking her to california with me to visit my sister but financially realized that i would have to limit myself to one vacation this year. that being said, i wanted it to be a solo trip but with your family constantly saying "you're crazy," i start to think i am.

but then i get on the solo board and you guys talk me down so keep the positive solo trip reports and tips coming.

Hi Candice!! Don't feel funny about going solo! Its fun ,you get to do what you want to do with no one complaining!! I love it! if you want to stay late at the parks stay late! or if you want to sleep late , sleep late or get up at the crack of dawn and be the first one to the park! The buses are empty!! Its great!
