Remember--No Kids and No Pets!
Cast of Characters--
Kathy--motorhome drive extraordinaire, 47
Barbara--'kid-sister' to Kathy and author of this report
Debbie--friend and co-worker, 47
Minnie--31 foot Winnebago Minnie Class C motorhome, also known as Nana's Little House
Sunday morning we rolled out of bed at 7 a.m. The only un-hooking we still had to do was the electricity and we had to load the bikes and put the slide-out in. News--there were mosquitoes out there this morning, and I was a buffet!! We had never seen FW so wet--there was water in places I had never seen wet before. We got the bikes loaded and were ready to roll at 7:17 a.m. We headed down through Kissimmee to hit 192 to 27. We know where the Hardee's is on 27 and we deserved a biscuit fix. When we stopped at Hardee's Debbie ran in to get food. She seemed a little amazed when she came out and announced, "Now I've been to Hardee's in my pajamas!" We had warned her that the camping lifestyle is casual, so now I guess she believes us!!
We stopped in Valdosta for gas--Flying J-- and then stopped and picked up some more of those good BBQ sandwiches at the Dairy Queen just north of Valdosta. We made good time and stopped for an hour at the rest stop on the 475 Macon bypass so Kathy could take a nap. We made it through Atlanta in less than 1 hour--amazing time--and we only made one more stop (in North GA for cheap gas) before we got home.
Most of Debbie's family met us when we stopped to let her off--it was so cute to see her family pry her hands off the doorway to take her home!! They hadn't seen the Minnie before, so they all came in for a tour and pointed out all the places they could sleep next time--lol. Then we headed the rest of the way home where our family was waiting to pry our fingers off the doorway too.
It was a great trip--just what we needed to get us ready to return to work. School starts Monday, and I have photos on my desk to look at when I get stressed!
Just some final thoughts--
When it rains--keep going.
When it's lightning--look up. There are lightning rods everywhere!
Try to do one new thing each trip.
Carry your own water bottles and snacks--save your money for souvenirs and chocolate.
Put ponchos and zip-loc bags in your fanny pack--they may come in handy.
If you ever get a chance to ride Big Thunder Mountain in the pouring rain--DO IT!
Keep writing trip reports--they are fun to read while you're not planning a trip or at home in Disney!!
