Headed to the Fort in October! Updated

I was thinking the same thing!!! Does it come on a trailer?? but then you'd need a hitch:confused3

I am just speculating but....

Who's vehicle would you be in with the trailer & cart (his/yours)?

Who has the KTTW card or MB to get in the gate?

Disney won't mess with a guest who can get in the gate themself.

Just sayin'.

They said that I would have to meet them off property, and they would hitch the trailer up to our vehicle (if we have a hitch). If not, we drive their truck to deliver the golf cart. Seems like a lot of hassle, but Disney makes the rules.

Sure 'does' seem like a lot of hassle. Also, seems could be a problem letting each person use their truck to deliver the cart. How is that any different than letting 'them' drive it there?? The 'driver' would make all the difference??? :confused3

Something doesn't seem to add up. Wonder if anyone has experienced this yet, or is it totally new? Will be interesting to see how this unfolds. ::yes::

I'll be interested to see how this unfolds. We aren't going until October, so hopefully Disney will see how petty they are being and change the rules before then!

Maybe if he has a rental ending and then another one starting the same day( or close to it) he might arrange a place in the Fort to get it, just a thought. Kind of a exchange point.

This might not be good. If it comes back damaged how do you know who did it?

This is a very new policy.

I booked with Kenny a couple of months ago for our April/May trip, no trouble delivering to the fort. Friends of ours recently tried to book with Kenny for the same trip and were told that he could not deliver to the fort, but he was able to honour existing reservations to drop at the fort.

Kenny was probably allowed to honor any standing reservations in terms of his prior method of order fulfillment. Once the new policy was put in place with WDW, any new orders have to follow the off-site pickup policy.

To WDW it's probably all about "who" initiates the delivery. A guest using a guest MB/KTTW card is permitted to bring in a cart. Kenny is not an overnight guest so he falls into another category. That's why in my reply above I noted that Disney won't turn down a guest who brings one in.

As far as the damage question due to back-to-back rentals, that had already been addressed.

Maybe this policy change explains Kenny's recent service issues with Disney hassling him and making life difficult. It will be interesting to see if those service issues actually diminish with the new policy. Kenny constituted the 2nd tier providers (Disney being 1st tier and others a distant 3rd tier). I mean, as long as the pick up point isn't in Lakeland, it's still a deal.

And as far as Disney being petty, you're right. They absolutely are. This is all about money. Given the confiscatory rates they charge for their own golf carts, Kenny represented a chunk of "lost" revenue that WDW wants to get back a big piece of. This is not like the trailer rental folks they let in to set up a trailer for you - WDW is not in that business so there is no competition. That service actually helps them rent more campsites.

But Kenny was competition so he was a threat that was dealt with. Which is why he can't bring the carts into the Fort, but you can. So I doubt the policy will change back. This has actually been a long time in coming.

Now I'm second guessing the need of a golf cart.... With all the extra hassle to get it to the campground, is it worth it? I keep thinking I could take that money and get MNSSHP tickets!!

We are staining at the fort in October as well. We always get a cabin. We rent a golf cart from the Fort. That's always an option for you guys as well. Good luck!

My advice this first time around would be to keep the golf cart. Whether you rent from Kenny or WDW, try it this time.

The reason I say that is if you were lucky as a tent camper to get loop 1500, you can drive to the parks, bus to the beach or for the MK boat, and simply walk across the road to the pool, Trading Post, Bike Barn, and Movie/Singalong.

BUT - if you are in loop 2000 (which is not bad) it's simply further away. I look at those 3 kids in your pictures and think of those little legs walking around it will wear them out. If you are very patient you can wait for the internal busses everywhere but I am not that patient.

Also being October, I think a cart would facilitate looping and looking at decorations at night.

So that's my opinion. It's worth what you paid for it (zero) but since you asked, I put in my two cents. :surfweb:

I agree with Ed, but mainly because of it being October and you will be wanting to go around and look at decorations. We biked it on our trip and had no problems but we were not looping a lot to see the sites. Well...I was, but the wife and kids weren't. So I agree that keeping the cart is probably best for now.

It is good to see this thread. I have a reservation with Kenny made a year ago for two carts, but not until October! Hope he can honor that one.

My experience last October was with Central Florida Golf Carts, (who I DO NOT recommend, BTW). Their method was to call and have you meet at the nearby pet kennel (Best Friends Pet Care) parking lot. Then they would get a KTTW card from you (you were supposed to bring an extra one for them). That way they could get in to drop off and pick up the cart.

Thanks for the heads up! :hippie:
