I am beyond excited!! DH informed me last weekend that he was planning a trip to Paris for our 18th anniversary and it is now officially booked! He said he doesn't want it to be a "Disney" trip but says one day at DLP is fine! He loves Disney but knows that since we only have a week in Paris, there is so much to do and see. We've been all over North America and the Caribbean and even Central America but NEVER to Europe. I've got a lot of researching to do ;-)

So, what are the must dos at DLP? We love thrill rides but also love the traditional Disney rides too. And what day during the week would most likely be less busy?

Kinda bummed I can't spend several days at DLP but I'm just thrilled to be going! Plus just 3 weeks after returning home, we'll be in WDW for a week while he attends a conference.

Congrats on the booking. A must do is to watch Dreams, its a bit sketchy as to the frequency of it after the end of September as all the adverts state daily until the 30th September.

Congratulations on your upcoming trip :thumbsup2 I've never been to any other park except DLP, but i've heard that Space Mountain is very different in DLP so if you're a thrill seeker you might want to try that.

I'd also advise visiting mid-week if you can and avoid weekends which are generally very busy.

Happy planning :goodvibes

Thanks! I hope its still showing early October :-).

Thanks. We love thrill rides so we'll definitely make sure to ride it! Mid week will work perfect for us as we will be arriving early on a Sunday after a red eye flight so that day is out. Then we're leaving on the next Saturday so we'll have pretty much the whole week to work with.

That is amazing news, you must be so excited! I have visited Paris/DLP many times before and specifically one time just did a one-day trip to DLP with my then boyfriend who hadn't been to any Disney parks before, after we visited Brussels and were on our way home. I'll share what we managed to do in peak summertime, on a Saturday - it's amazing what you can do in a day at DLP as it is so compact!

We started at 10am and went to the Walt Disney Studios first - I'd recommend doing the same (even if it means missing out on seeing the castle first thing to get your Disney buzz - the queues will be quieter and the main things here can be done quickly as it is smaller).

We went to, in roughly this order:
Cinemagique
Stitch Live
Rock n Roller coaster
FP for Twilight Zone
Moteurs Action
Twilight Zone
Studio Tram Tour
Shops

We then took a breather around lunchtime to go through Disney Village, grab a bite and a beer at Ludwigs, had half an hour of people watching and then wandered round Lake Disney, Hotel NY, Sequoia Lodge, Newport Bayclub Hotels - this was lovely to do as it really gave us time to recharge for the evening portion (which at this time was around 6pm).

We went to Disneyland Park and went to:

Pirates of the Caribbean
Indiana Jones
Phantom Manor
We then went to Discoveryland to get a FP for Space Mountain, went to Star Tours and unfortunately my ex was too ill to ride on Space Mountain, so we went for the much tamer Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast.

We took it easy for an hour, had a bite and went to some shops. We then went on It's a Small World and Pinocchio's ride, then decided we would go on Big Thunder Mountain instead of watching the fireworks - but we were lucky that the queue at this point (around 10.30pm) was relatively quick, and we managed the just catch the fireworks. An absolutely jam-packed day, but we still had rest time. We were exhausted the next day though!!

Also Paris is an absoutely stunning place - but a bit darker than you might think it is from films like Amelie! It can be covered in graffiti, dirty and people can be rude (like everywhere) but it is absolutely steeped in history and beauty. Have a wonderful anniversary no matter what you do, and let me know if you would like any recommendations for while you are in the city (Pere Lachaise cemetary, Montmarte, Luxembourg Gardens, Shakespeare & Co bookshop as well as a midnight picnic under the Eiffel tower are some of my favourites :)).

Wow, you got a lot done during a busy time. That gives me much hope that we can see and do most everything we want during a slower season and during the week!

I would love recommendations for Paris! We are staying at Hotel Elysees Union, which is supposed to be just a short walk from the Eiffel Tower. So a midnight picnic there sound absolutely amazing! Didn't even think about cemeteries but I am intrigued by them so that is something to consider too. Dh says definitely the Louvre, I say definitely Disneyland, lol. Other than that, we are open!

No worries Carmen - let me do this trip next weekend and I'll definitely send you on some ideas - it's a place you'd have a great time just stumbling upon things, but always useful to have a good steer! The Louvre and Disneyland - sounds like you'll both just need to compromise ;-)

Thanks so much! And yes, it's all about compromise :-). Almost 18 years of marriage and we still have the time of lives together each and every trip even though we do not necessarily agree on everything. Thanks again and enjoy your trip!

Some of the must dos at DLP in my opinion (that are unique to DLP):
- Big Thunder Mountain - just so well done in DLP, especially with its own little island!
- Space Mountain - wayyy more intense that the other Space Mountains, also very fun! Has inversions...
- Phantom Manor - which has a different story from the Haunted Mansion (but similar sort of ride)
- the castle with the dragon underneath it
- Dreams - one of the best Disney night time shows ever with projections on the castle and fireworks
- Crush's coaster - spinning roller coaster in the dark, so fun! unfortunately queues for this are rather long...
- Cinemagique - show that is unique to DLP. I find it very well done and really enjoy it!

Enjoy Paris (and especially celebrating your anniversary there)!

Oh, these sounds awesome!!! THANK YOU!

We plan on buying the special anniversary 1 day, 2 park ticket. Does anyone know if these tickets can be upgraded once used if we find out 1 day is not enough? At WDW, they allow you to add days to tickets as long as you do so on or before your last day.
