I am so excited....my BF is having her daughter's birthday party at AG in NYC in April! I have been wanting to take my dd6 there, but haven't yet, so we are super thrilled and excited! She is getting a limo and driver, so that is very cool!

Anyway, my dd has several AG dolls, and two bitty babies which she plays with daily! She is going to pick a doll to take with her for the party and I told her she could pick out one or two things, but we are not going on a spending spree at someone else's birthday party! :goodvibes The easter bunny may even put a american girl gift card in her basket knowing that she will be visiting the store a week after Easter.

But my question is what things do they have that are exclusive to the american girl store? Logo sweatshirts, etc? Do they have any products for the dolls or bittys that you can only get in the store? I know we will definitly make a return trip (we live on Long Island and my sister lives in Manhattan so its very doable.....I've just been waiting until dd is old enough to appreciate and enjoy the experince!) but I wasn't sure how much money to budget!

We are giving my BF's daughter a gift card to pick out a doll or piece of furniture. My BF is my youngest son's godmother and she is so good to us and we vacation in disney together....so she is really like family to us.

This is AG - of course you'll need everything. Whatever you see, you'll need it... take my word for it... :lmao:

Seriously though, we love the red/pink striped beach line for dolls and girls at AGP. We always buy a jacket or tshirt set from the store too and you'll probably want the coconut statue of liberty costume if you have coconut. It's too cute and only available in NY.

Since you're eating in the cafe, you might want to buy a matching tea cup set or the flower pot/flower set they use for ice cream in the cafe as a memento of your visit. DD9 loves recreating her cafe trips at home with the little striped cups and plates.

You might watch ebay for AGP exclusives too - often you can find them cheaper than in the store but that's not guaranteed of course.

Just be warned, everything looks cuter in person! My sister, niece, mom and I have gone twice and we always end up spending more than we planned, but always save things for upcoming holidays!

thanks! The pink beach line sounds adorable....and I definitly want to get her a sweatshirt or tee shirt. She had a real growth spurt this year and I just noticed that all her sweatshirts are a little small.....so thats kind of like a neccessity! :rotfl:

And yes, dd does have coconut (it was a hand me down from my niece). My Katie loves to play with her dolls so I can totally see her re-creating the cafe experience!

I know it will be hard not to go too crazy! Luckily we are getting our income tax money back before we go!:rotfl: Although that is earmarked for disney! But I have a few weeks to sock away extra money for AG! I think I'm more excited than her!

They have the seats that fit on your table for sale.... I think they were about $24. Be sure your table doesn't have a "lip" on it.... the slide in... and go in about 4-5 inches(does that make sense, if not pm me). My girls will even take that to restaurants so their dolls can sit when we go out to eat. Have fun. Oh, you can get the dolls hair done there, that is fun... but be sure to take it as soon as you get there, no appointments and the wait can be forever. Also, they do ear piercing for the doll. For an added bonus, you can get your picture taken and they put it on a "pretend" cover. It was a high quality pic though and since we live in Ohio and won't be back to AG in NYC for some time, we splurged on that. I dont' recall the cost.

My mom took my DD to NY AG in the fall. They had a blast and I only got to look at the pictures ;) I was so jealous but what an AMAZING experience for DD! (we live in OH)

Anyway - she got her doll's ears pierced and some earrings. Everytime she has a friend over they to pierce their doll's ears as well!!! I think it was $15 to get her ears pierced and then the earrings. This is definitely one of her favorite things she got there

She also got the first aid kit - which comes with a cast and wheelchair and crutches. They all love to play with that too!!

ok, my list of must-haves is growing, and dd hasn't even seen the store yet!:lovestruc

I definitly want to get the booster seat that attaches to the table.....thats the stuff katie really plays with! And maybe we will get one of her dolls ears pierced. She has a JLY doll that came with pierced ears, but maybe she will have Chrissa, Julie or Mia's ears pierced. I know she is going to flip over Laine but I am not getting her another doll until Christmas. And I think at this point I'm going to wait and see if QVC does a bundle with Laine. Last year I got dd Chrissa for her Easter basket, and I was kicking myself b/c QVC offered such a nice package. Same with Mia and Julie and Kit....I got them all from qvc with some really nice extras.

So I think we will try to shop for the things that are exclusive to the store. Thanks for all the replies!

To make it even more tempting... There's usually a purchase with purchase outfit too for $14. The last time I checked it was a pink skirt/top/sandals outfit exclusive to AGP stores. At other times the pwp might be a retired outfit or accessory.

You have to spend $30 or $40 for each pwp you purchase but I've been told that occassionally some salespeople will offer multiples without an additional purchase. I don't know for sure b/c we usually buy a doll to remember each trip by, so we typically qualify for more than one pwp anyhow. I only buy one b/c by the time I get to the register I'm usually already over budget. I rationalize it by figuring a doll is easier to keep track of, and remember when they picked her out, than outfit pieces are. :rolleyes1
