So, 9 1/2 years ago, 6 weeks before DH and I's wedding my FIL to be passed away suddenly from a construction accident. He loved woodworking and had made us a couple of things for Christmas's prior to that.
5 1/2 years ago we put an addition on to our home, that included a living room amongst other rooms. Well, yesterday my DH called and said that someone had a dollhouse for sale that his dad had made (I didn't know he ever made a dollhouse). He made one for his boss I would guess about 15 years ago and this former boss was going to sell the dollhouse. A friend of ours called and said that she was going to buy it regardless, but if we wanted to buy it from her we could. I told him if it was in good shape we absolutely should buy it. So while I was out shopping he goes to look at it and brings it home. It's huge, but it's almost as if it was made for the spot we planned on putting it...a ledge above a stairway in our 'new' living room, that FIL was never here to see.
Not only that, a few years back I had been talking about buying a dollhouse kit, but never did because I couldn't find one that I liked that I thought would "fit" the room. I didn't want a victorian one, I was looking more for the cabin type. Any cabin one I found didn't have the rooms I was looking for.
I took this as a sign from above, that it was meant to be. We are going to have so much fun with the kids furnishing the dollhouse that their
Grandpa they never got to meet made.
Just wanted to share!
