HE washers and dryers

I LOVE my Whirlpool Cabrio washer and steam dryer. They are very quiet compared to my old pair. I keep piling up clothes when I sort the laundry for washing and end up with basically a double load of darks almost every time. I mean a heaping pile, and it fits in one load in the Cabrio pair. (Now if I could just get someone to fold them and put them away!) Whatever you decide on, if they carry it at Lowes/Home Depot, go on ebay and buy a 10% off coupon. It says Lowes on it but we used lots of them successfully at both places. We waited until a holiday weekend when they had 10% off appliances and free delivery at Lowes and then used the coupon on top of that. Saved a ton of money.

I just went thru buying a washer/dryer (posted over the weekend) and I ended up at HD. They are having a sale, and Maytag is also offering a rebate based on how many appliances you buy. 2 = $100. I bought a top loader Maytag Centennial 700 series. Delivery Sat. so I can't tell you about it yet!

We have the Whirlpool Duet set and I will never go back to a regular washer again. I love my set...I leave the washer door open to prevent the mildew

We have a two year old LG Tromm set. For the first time in more than thirty years of marriage & laundry, I actually enjoy doing laundry now. No smells, but I normally run a load of whites with bleach at least once a week anyway and I do leave the door open for a little while after the last load of the day so that the inside dries.

Ours is on the second level - in a closet in the kitchen - and I don't have an issue with vibration using the fast spin but do remember reading in the instructions how important it was for them to be completely level or vibrations would occur. Ours is so quiet that when we first bought it, I'd have to look in the door to make sure it was actually running.

It's also the first time I've ever had clothes actually dry faster than the washer washes. No more waiting for clothes to dry and having laundry baskets of wet clothes sitting there waiting...:thumbsup2

We have the largest capacity front load washer and dryer made by LG. We have them located in a second floor laudry room and I couldn't be happier. No mold problem at all, but after we do a wash, I leave the door and dispenser draw open to dry out.
In my regular top loaders I did seven large loads a week. I now do 4 loads a week.

I also want to add that most new washers come with a "Clean Cycle". If you clean it once a month, along with leaving the door cracked, then that will help eliminate the odor and mold issue.

I have a Whirlpool Duet Sport and I do like it. I must have gotten a bad one because the CPU went out within 6 months of me buying it. :headache: But it was all covered under the warrenty. I also made sure to take out the extended warrenty since it is all electronical.

I have a Bosch washer and dryer. I love the Bosch it uses the least amount of water.

I bought a LG front loader for $499 from Home Depot earlier this summer after my 18yo washer died. I LOVE IT! It cleans great. It is in my basement, so it is no problem to leave the door and tray open. It cleans my clothes beautifully and they dry in so little time. I even love the little tune it sings when a load has finished.

I did buy the storage drawer for $209 to go along with it. I don't think I would like bending all the time, and besides, I could use the storage.

My only nuisance is with pet hair. It can accumulate around the rubber ring, so it is important to keep this clean and run the wash tub cycles.

I have a maytag neptune and have noticed the same problem with hair and mold. Our laundry area doesn't allow room to leave the door hanging open.

Also, and this I REALLY hate, it uses such little water that odors just do not come out well (strong odors like gasoline). Then it's rewash, and sometimes rewash again.

I'm beginning the search for a top loader. I'm not willing to deal with mold and odors again. Yuck.

That's how I ended up with the LG. I was looking at a floor model of the top of the line HE front loading kenmore from the previous year which was marked down to roughly half price. Since it was scratch and dent, I wanted to make sure that it was a good price so sears held it while i came home that night to look it up online.

I was shocked to see that about half the comments posted on Sears' own site by customers who owned the model I was buying were very negative. Stuff like "never again" and "wish I could take it back". Most of the complaints seemed to be b/c it used so little water (5 gallons maybe ?? but may not be remembering correctly) that heavily-soiled clothes and smells required several washes.

DH works in automotives and we have pets so I knew I needed something heavy duty. I'd never thought about the water component of the wash cycle though until I saw those complaints on the sears website. The LG model we eventually bought was listed as using twice as much water and had very favorable reviews at the time. I know it's the nicest washer I've ever owned - the most expensive too - but worth it to me now.

Okay, now for my "good ol days" rant... "geez, that washer/dryer set costs as much as our first new car - and that was right off the showroom floor!"... Seriously, it did... but I like it better - and I know I drive... errr... use it more often.:lmao:
