He Was Bitten, Bitten By The Bug! A Nov-Dec '12 TR **WRAP UP 7/26**

I can never get shots of the birds when we go on the trail. You got some great shots of the male gorillas. :thumbsup2

You promised more giraffe pictures...and those were great!

But I have to say I really love the picture of the two hippos, where one is laying on top of the other. :goodvibes

And so happy that Steve called and was coming to join you for a few hours.

Great safari pics!! I have never been on either of the trails. I havent been able to convince DH to do even more walking. :rotfl:
Yay Steve!!

I'm pleasantly surprised at how clear your picture of the fish tank on the Pangani Forest Trail is. Usually everyone's pictures look so dark there.

I'm glad Steve would be able to join you, even if only for a few hours.

Love love love the latest updates! I could wander around looking at the animals all day long. I especially like the gorilla viewing areas.

I'm happy to hear that you'll get to spend some time with your friend finally.

I knew you would love the gorilla pictures! I could wander around the trails too.

The update with Steve will come soon! :)

I got a lot of not-so-good pictures of the birds too, they move so fast!

I took a ton of giraffe pictures, just for you! And I loved that hippo picture too, it was so cute to see.

I was quite happy when I talked to Steve finally as well.

Great safari pics!! I have never been on either of the trails. I havent been able to convince DH to do even more walking. :rotfl:
Yay Steve!!

Thanks. You definitely need to walk the trails, there are so many incredible animals there.

It can be really difficult to get pictures of that fish tank, the glass, sun reflecting, etc have resulted in some bad pictures from me too!

I wanted him to be able to spend more time, but I was happy to at least see him for a few hours! :goodvibes

A lot of great animal pictures! :thumbsup2

The gorillas are always fun to watch, but you're right... it always seems to be packed around the glass there and hard to see. I'm sure it was great to see the baby gorilla running around and playing with the bucket. :rotfl2:

Great animal pictures as usual! My favorite this time is the two Hippos sleeping.

Seeing the baby Gorilla with the bucket on her head must have been awesome!

Thanks!

It was very packed there but the CM was keeping everyone back far enough where you could still see from a few people back. But once the baby stuck the bucket on her head that poor CM didn't stand a chance and everyone crowded up. It was pretty funny to see.

I really like that one too!

It was funny. I swear you could see the adult gorillas around her rolling their eyes at her when she ran into the glass! :rotfl:

UPCOMING TRIP NON-UPDATE

So I'm calling this a non-update as there is not really anything new to say, but figured I'd say something! :lmao:

I talked to Steve on Sunday, and he still has no idea what is going on. He is waiting on someone else to tell him what's going on with them, and once he finds that out he will know when he will be free. He still hasn't heard from that person so we still can't book anything. The only good thing is that what he may have to do is supposed to start this weekend, so he will know in the next few days. The planner in me is going nuts though, as I may be potentially checking in to CBR in 2 weeks, but have no reservations or set plans yet!!! :scared1: I just keep hoping every time my phone goes off that it is him and we can plan something! But irregardless I know I will be in FL sometime soon, so that helps. :goodvibes

I am with you.....the planner in me would be going :crazy2::sad::hyper: Hopefully, you'll hear something definitive soon!

I'm trying to keep calm and not stress about it as I know I know WDW well so I don't need to plan much. But I also just want to know for sure when I'm going so I can get truly excited about counting down. :cool1:

I hope you find out soon so you can do some planning!

Me too! I'm sure I will hear something in the next few days. Good thing is I already have a general idea of what we will do, since I know how many days we are going for at least. I just want the dates so I can get truly excited and count down!! :lmao:

Great photos as usual!! I am excited that on our October trip I will be able to take a lot of pictures because it will be a munchkin free trip. I think DH might also surprise me with a new camera for Mother's Day :yay: We did not see any gorillas when we walked the trail, I was disappointed. However I love walking around all the trails at AK with all the foliage and wild life. :) Pictures do not do it justice.

And oh my geez! I would be going nuts not knowing what is going on in like 2 weeks!! I hope it all turns out and turns out soon!!!

Thanks! I love the trails at AK too, so beautiful. Bummer you didn't see the gorillas last time, but yay for being able to take more pictures this trip!

I'm just repeating over and over that it will all be fine, and I will find out as soon as everyone else knows.....:thumbsup2

I would be going nuts if I was going in two weeks and had no plans yet. :scared1:

I hope you hear something soon.

DAY FOUR, SUNDAY DECEMBER 2ND, PART THREE

Since I still had plenty of time until I had to leave AK to meet Steve at POP Century I headed down the pathway between Africa and Asia next, stopping at a PP along the way. First pic is my camera, second and third are PP.

The one from my camera was really dark! I kept walking but didn’t seen DiVine this time. I made it to Asia quickly…

And stopped at another PP! Again, first is my camera, second and third are PP.

Where was I headed next? Here of course!

132_zps63969b5e.jpg

On the way I got a picture of a Siamang

128_zps1bf93bcc.jpg

Then I headed over to the Singer Rider entrance…

133_zps1a3fa9c5.jpg

And there were only a few people in front of me. I was soon put with a younger boy (maybe 14-ish) who was not at all happy that he couldn’t ride alone. He grumbled in line to his two buddies in the row beside us, but was fine on the ride itself. I took a couple pictures before we headed out.

135_zps003313e9.jpg

And some pictures as I rode the roller coaster…I mean train expedition!

If you look closely in the next picture you can see SSE, the Swan and Dolphin hotels, ToT and the Mickey water tower in Backlot Tour, left to right.

More pictures during the ride

Glad I survived that! And I even have a picture to prove it!

Photo0189FourBySix_zps1f450776.jpg

Okay, maybe not the best ride photo! I wanted a better one, so I figured I’d tempt fate and get on again, going thru the Single Rider line once again. There was almost no line there again so I was put next to a teenage boy who was there with his brother and father. We made the front row and they were behind us. I took a picture of our front row, and another of the backpacks and such since the one on the first time around didn’t turn out great.

I took more pictures along this ride, though not as many. First up, a shot pointing right as you go up the main hill (not much to see here!)

148_zps5cc61643.jpg

And another one off the left side, with a close-up of SSE too.

The only other picture I took this time:

152_zps5f2d5571.jpg

And my ride photo this time, which still didn’t turn out great, but at least you can see my bad acting skills!

Photo0190FourBySix_zps0d25ef19.jpg

I kind of wanted to ride a third time, but I was running out of time and knew I wanted to do the Jungle Trek before I left, so I headed that way instead.

153_zps4515dd2f.jpg

154_zps22c05000.jpg

First up, the Komodo dragon! I think it was on Lisa’s TR (I could be wrong) where they were wondering the gender of it, and the CM there said this one is a male. Don’t know if they have multiple but they have at least one male Komodo Dragon! It was sunning itself but then walked off to the back of the exhibit, so I had good timing.

155_zps91c35653.jpg

156_zpsf13facd3.jpg

Next up, the fruit bats.

159_zpsf7e850d0.jpg

160_zpsb111437c.jpg

There was a younger girl there with her Mom who was disgusted by the bats due to…ummm…how to put this delicately….the fact that you don’t need to ask the CM what gender they are, it’s pretty obvious!

Next up was my favorite part of the Jungle Trek, the tigers! This one was pretty mellow, just lying around.

161_zpse0bd1175.jpg

162_zps73417392.jpg

The mural with Hidden Mickey!

163_zpsb507e946.jpg

The other tiger was not mellow at all. He was VERY interested in someone and was pacing the window, which made close, good pictures pretty easy.

164_zpscf634d37.jpg

165_zpsf8ae9538.jpg

166_zpsecac9f4d.jpg

Who was he so interested in, and why???? I think the pictures make it very clear.

167_zps0c85d377.jpg

168_zps1322efc0.jpg

He wanted that service dog!!! Actually the CM there said he probably wasn’t stalking it for food reasons, but because he wasn’t used to seeing them and wanted to know what it was and if it posed a risk to him. People he is used to seeing, but not dogs and was feeling territorial! He was the service dog for a teenage boy in a wheelchair, and the kid (and all of us guests really) thought it was hilarious! Especially since the dog barely looked at him, so there was no risk she wanted his territory.

This next area used to have the Bantengs (Indian Cows) but now has Peahens, Peacocks and Cranes instead.
