So, after giving DH a list of vacations and their prices and things to do on them he decided to go w/ Disney since it has Star Wars. Well, we then sat down and started discussing ways to save while we are there on things. I told him that I thought we should bring snacks and eat as little as possible from the parks since it was kind of expensive (and if we eat there do CS). Well, he came up to me yesterday and was like "I want to do at least 2 sit down meals." I was thinking "ugh that is adding a min. of $100 on our bill." He thinks we should do Tony's and Marakesh (sp). I havent said anything to him, but man I really dont want to spend a ton of money on sit down meals when he and I both know that our kids wont sit down for very long.

But, the over planning for him hasnt stopped there...LOL. He wants me to look into Pirates League AGAIN. I think that we did it once and that is enough until our youngest can do it. Esp since its $50ish dollars. Also instead of driving just 12hrs (which we just drove 24 from tx to tn moving in Jan) he wants to fly. LOL.

We decided not to tell the kids we are going until Saturday (the day we are set to arrive right now). We are going to load them in the car after my hubby gets off work on friday and I'm going to drive 6hrs and stop for the night. We are going to tell them when they wake up saturday morning. I figured we would just tell them with a nice little "hey we are going to Disney today." b4 we get into the car. But, DH thinks I should make them little goodie bags to announce it. He wants to put things like their little autograph books we have, a toy, glow sticks, and some of their hats we already have in them, along w/ a nice letter from Mickey. Then set them up on a table/bench something in the room that they will see when they wake up. He thinks by me looking into the cheapest way to do this I'm over doing it. LOL

Anyone else have a hubby that does that???

When are you going? Can you take advantage of any of the promos that are out? If you are going in the fall, why not keep your eyes open for free dining. Hopes are that it is announced within the next 3 weeks.

Well let see- I have been planning a trip for July for 2 months complete with 18 ADRS that have been booked 3 times- 1 time with crazy park hopper signature dining experiences at impossible times for the kids, 1 time in child friendly reality and a third time to include our baby since we decided to take our youngest.

So last week my sweet DH said maybe we could go during spring break instead :rotfl2:- nevermind that there are ZERO rooms and since I get a summer bonus and we are waiting on tax money that it would take all of our savings. :confused3.

He also wants to tell them know so we can use that to improve behavior  because I am sure I will cancal a $4000 trip that I have spent 2 months planning because my 6 year old acts up:rolleyes:.

Trust me I understand. Of course he as always wanted to be involved in buying crib bedding so I should be used to it by now.

OMG!!! If you want to spend the money on a sit down, please don't go to Tony's!:scared: it is the most hateful food and service in WDW. There are so many better places to dine at wdw, than be rushed thru a really bad meal.

If you are worried about money. Can you downgrade resort? I persoannly don't think 2 TS meals is a lot.

I would look into adding dining plan. With 1 CS and 1 TS- it pays for itself. Plus, you won't ever have to think about costs or money while choosing restaurants or choosing off the menu!

I absolutely agree! :scared1:

We are staying at Shades of Green for cheaper than the Value Resorts at that time (trust me I compared them b4 deciding) right now. It means we cant add the dining plan. We did Tony's b4 and enjoyed it. We got there for lunch as it just opened and it was really good. I know 2 TS arent a lot, but I really dont want to fight my 2 to sit still the entire time. That is my main thing...esp since DH kept going "why did we book a lot of sit down meals" back in Nov. LOL. Men.

Have you thought about doing a character meal buffet instead of one or both? That kind of meal would keep the kids entertained and offer some decent food that's kid friendly. Plus, your 2 year old could eat for free that the buffet :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone for the input. We opted for 1 character meal at Garden Grill. We figured since the kids will be so used to eating on the go it will be a complete shock for them when we stop and eat w/ Mickey, Pluto, Chip & Dale. We really enjoyed the food at GG last time, so we are looking forward to it.

Were not big fans of Tony's at our house but have a freind that loves it. To much garlic for us.

They changed the price of the lowest package at Pirates Leauge. It's now 30 bucks. And it's totally worth it. DS and I did it in December and it looked so great and we had a blast.

Did you know that right now Disney is offering 40% off rooms for military? Even if you are paying the lowest rate at SOG I think 40% off at the values is still cheaper.
For us the moderates end up being cheaper than SOG! And we can get the dining plan (they don't require you to buy tickets with the military deal).

For us its a better deal to do SOG. We are going to get a smaller rate than 40% off at Disney because of the 20% off at SOG for the OEF/OIF Package. Since its for block leave we qualify. Even w/o the 20% off it was only $5 more a night at SOG and we get 2x the room than the values.
