I have this booked for 7:30 for a night that the MK is open with EM hours till 1 am so I planned on being in the MK till the show....taking the ferry over....then returning to the MK for more rides.

My question is......what happens if it rains? Has this happened to anyone. If we go to get on the ferry and there is lightning in the area....I would imagine we would need another hour or more to get there by the buses......

Yes, no, experiences?

Thanks....the ferry seems that it would be so convenient..

I do not think that there is a bus from the MK to FW, there is a bus that goes from the MK to the WL, but I do not remember it going to FW too. But I could be wrong.

That could be....which means it would take even longer to get there if the ferry is not working...but that wont happen...right?! lol

First of all, no ferries run from the MK to the FWC/HDDR. Ferry boats only run from the MK to the TTC and back. All of the WDW Watercraft are equipped with lightning protection so you will be more exposed standing on the dock at the FWC and other resorts than on the boats.

Two motor cruisers currently provide transportation from the MK to the FWC and return from the World Cruise Dock at the MK. They each have a green flag on their bow.

"What if it rains?", you ask.

Well, you'll get wet.

Here's the problem.....I'm pretty conversant regarding transportation at WDW, admittedly water craft are my weak point. But....when I read your post I got a bit conerned because I knew I had taken a boat to FtW and HDDR from MK in the past. It took me a few seconds to realize you were arguing terminology. Yes, the 'ferry' boat runs between TTC and MK. But I think it's okay to call all the boats 'ferries'. I don't think anyone here actually thinks of the smaller boats as 'motor cruisers'...I know I don't.

So I am not losing my mind when I remember a "ferry/watercraft" that takes you to Ft. Wilderness correct?

but.....if I understand this....the ferry/watercraft WILL run in inclement weather because it has lighting protection.

No...not necessarily...depends on how severe the storm conditions are...the pilots have authority to stop running if they feel it is unsafe and watercraft management will and has shut operations down under severe conditions.

Now you know.

Anyone asks a CM where the ferry is and they will be directed to the ferry boat dock at the MK.

Your logic about calling [all] boats ferries is like saying it's ok to call chocolate ice cream vanilla because, afterall, it's still ice cream. :dance3:

If I ask where the ferry to HDDR is, would they send me to the TTC dock or would they use some common sense and inquire a little further as to my destination and help me get there, even if I didn't know that the cruisers are the FW/MK boats. I'm hoping most CMs are aware that most guests don't know the proper terminology for the boats and might referr to all boats as ferry boats(after all they do "ferry" people).

I can't remember if we asked for the ferry or boat to HDDR, but they sent us over to the correct docks last summer. The specific words might be up for debate, but just make sure they know where you are trying to get to. At a place where CMs give out so much incorrect info about Disney to start with, I doubt they'd argue which is a ferry and which is a motor cruiser.
