We are attending HDDR for the first time and have CAT 2 booked. If we are seated upstairs how are the tables arranged?

I remember seeing a seating chart with specific tables and number on it, but I can't find it. Sorry.

If you are lucky enough to be in the balcony with Cat. 2 seating basically you sit in between the railing and the table on swivle chairs. When you eat you face the table and when the show is going on you spin around and face the stage. These are the best seats in the house, IMO, however the worst seats in the house are the other Cat. 2 seating on the floor. It's all luck of the draw.

Thanks so much for the quick replies. I'm debating upgrading to Cat 1 and paying OOP. Do you think it's worth it?

We had cat 3 with the ddp back in Jan 2009 and loved it. Wouldn't want any other and going back in less than 2 months. If you check my dining review from 2009 below, there are pics from the HDDR and you can get an idea of the seating :)

We went for Category 1 in November 2009. We ended up at a table right against the stage, right next to the stage steps at stage right. It was a light crowd (last show), so they moved everyone to the floor.

Two-Bit hit on my wife all night. It was hilarious.

We have had seats on the second level and they were just fine. The cast gets the people up there involved in the show as well.

It's a small place, really. Not too many bad seats...

That's good I'm really looking forward to seeing the show for the first time. We are on the regular dining plan so I guess I'm trying to decide if I want to use 2 dining credits or pay OOP.

Thank you to everyone that responded. Gotta love the DIS ask a queston and get a detailed map, photos and great advice :disrocks:

HOOP-DEE-DO-REVIEW SEATING INFO:
1) HDDR tables are assigned in category by the date of the ressie.
2) They are manually assigned on 7th day before the show date.
3) Last minute ressies are assigned to the next open table in order.
4) There are usually no requests allowed for tables.
5) Earlier ressies get the better tables.
6) Exceptions are #044 & #045, kept for last minute handicapped guests.
7) Table numbers do have meaning,
. . . EXAMPLE: table #052
. . . 0 = floor-level
. . . 5 = fifth-row-from-front
. . . 2 = second-table-from-left
8) Tables are moved around to accommodate number of guests per that table.
9) Only one family/group is seated per table.

. . . Cat-1 tables are main floor from stage thru row-8
. . . Cat-2 tables are the seven tables in row-9 on main floor
. . . Cat-2 tables are the last four tables left and right wings main floor
. . . Cat-2 tables are the six rear balcony tables facing stage
. . . Cat-3 tables are the nine tables on both balcony sides
. . . Cat-2 and Cat-3 tables may have posts in the viewing way
. . . most Cat-3 tables require you to turn around or crank your neck to see

We have always had Category 1 seats. We pay OOP for them and I think it is worth it. We use the extra credit to do a Signature on another night.
Great fun

It's a pretty small space and I wouldn't get worried about where I sat. I've had the "worst" seats in the house and had a great time. Even way in the back we had plenty of cast interaction and never strained to see or hear.

In my opinion HDDR is the only 2-credit restaurant worth the 2 credits.

Don't mean to hijack, but we made our ADR for HDDR for Cat 1. My credit card is already charged, prepaid. So, I don't have to pay anything, right, since tax and grat are already included? I don't have a receipt, per se...

Secondly, what if by some miracle, they would come out with free Dining when we go, should I just leave as is and pay OOP because I'd have to change to Cat 2 or 3 for the 7:15 show.

:worship:

I made the switch today we already have 2 signature restaurants booked during Thanksgiving week didn't really want to add a third.

Thanks again everyone :thanks:

jumping in here with a related question, I hope you don't mind OP!

We're thinking of HDDR next March - party of 11. Can they seat a large party in any of the categories? We'll be DDP but haven't decided yet if we'll pay OOP or use 2 TS credits each.

I've heard that there isn't really a bad seat in the house. We booked at 5:00 cat 2 but had a timing conflict and had to do the 7:15 and the only spit they had was cat 1. So I guess it will be paying oop for cat1 for us. We loved hddr so much last year that is definitely worth it for us. Enjoy:thumbsup2

I have sat in Category 1, & 2. Two out of the three times I went, I booked Category 3 and was moved to 1 once, and 2 the other time. Therefore, I would book 3 and hope to be seated in 1 or 2. Both times we were moved, it was the late show, so not sure if that had anything to do with it. I agree that there's not really a bad seat in the house. The time we booked Cat. 1 (first time) we had really great seats, but IMO they were not that much better than the Cat. 2 seats we had another time.
