Since HDDR takes 2 TS credits, we have to choose between HDDR or going to both Chef Mickey (B) and LTT (D). What would you do?

I would do HDDR. The show is fabulous and you will not forget the fun you had.

Having said that, I will tell you that I am one of the few people who was VERY under impressed with LTT. I don't dislike too many things, but I really did not care for this dinner.

Chef Mickey's always is a fun place, but I think HDDR is much better.

I suppose one of the things you need to consider is if you're looking for a character experience or a dinner show w/ some audience participation & good food. I don't think there are characters at Hoop Dee Doo - although the performers are very funny & lively & there are lots of fun antics.

We stayed in a cabin at FW last year & plan to do the same this year, and I've yet to manage to fit Hoop Dee Doo into our schedule. Although we'd love to see the show, it seems like both years, it's come down to the same thing for us - 2 dinners or 1 dinner show - and we've chosen the 2 dinners.

Some day, though, we'll schedule Hoop Dee Doo too! :teeth:

For what it's worth, we love Liberty Tree Tavern. It was DH's favorite character meal last year. It's become our "first night" dinner, & we couldn't imagine going to WDW & not eating at LTT. We really enjoyed the food (except for the mac & cheese), & the character interaction was wonderful! But everyone's different, & everyone's experiences will be different too. We also like Chef Mickey's, and eat there on our last morning for breakfast. (We start our trip w/ LTT & end our trip w/ CM's.)

Could you maybe schedule Hoop Dee Doo & then pay out of pocket for breakfast at Chef Mickey's if you really want to do both?

Funny. We feel the same way about HDD.

My first HDDR experience was back when I was 12 years old (I'm now 42  ). Back then there was no character dining, but I LOVED this show.

When I grew up and had my own kids, I took my DD there. She was 6 for her first show. The next trip, DS was 4 and DD was 10. They talked about this show the whole trip and wanted to go back a SECOND night on the trip. This was after Chef Mickey's, 1900 Park Fair, Cape May Buffet. They preferred the HDDR over any/all of the character meals we went to.

On my last trip, I did not book the HDDR because I figured I had two 14 year olds with me (too cool). I never said a word. They just assumed we were going. They were shocked that I didn't book the show again. I tried while we were there and could only get the 9:30 show and I just couldn't do it.

So, Wendy, I think you better make plans for on your NEXT trip!

Well, gee whiz! Now you're making me relook at my ADR's for THIS trip & trying to decide where we can fit it in! :teeth:

Last year, we happened to stroll by the building (Crockett's Tavern?) where Hoop Dee Doo is at the same time the show was going on, and it sounded so fun!

I think it is called Pioneer Hall.

I don't know the ages of your kids, but if they are anywhere in the 6-12 year old range, they will love it.

We did HDDR in 2004 and had a blast. We are going back for Thanksgiving this year and it is the ONLY thing the kids (13,11,11) are insisting on doing.

Yes, it is going to be expensive since all my kids are condsidered adults, but they really enjoy that corny humor!

I'm going to go the other way and say I'd rather have the 2 character meals than one HDD show. The reason why is because in my opinion LTT and CM are the two best character meals. LTT is my favorite (excellent character interaction) and CM is well run (and also good character interaction). While HDD is alot of fun, you can have twice the fun with two character meals. Also, HDD seating depends solely upon when you make your reservation. So if your dates are close, you may not get a seat on the floor. While the show does travel up to the 2nd floor, the better seats are down below.

Just one persons opinion.
