HDDR on DDP with small children

I have friends going to WDW this fall. They are doing the DDP and want to do HDDR. I have head that there is only 2nd tier sitting with the DDP. Does this mean the balcony only?? Has any one sit in the balcony with little ones? They have a 2 & 4 year old. Can you see from up there?? Is it safe with a toddler in tow??

We loved HDDR but did it without DDP and Made ADR 's really early and were 2nd row front and center.

Does it book any different now with the DDP?

I just booked us today. We are in the second tier too with the dining plan. We are taking our 3 YO. I never been to it so can't say how it is set up, but I read no seat is bad.

We went to HDDR in November 2007 and we used the DDP. We too made ADR 180 days prior and had good seats. If I am remembering right, if you are using the DDP you will be seated in Tier 2 or Tier 3. Tier 1 being on the floor right in front of the stage. Tier 2 being a little futher up (not balcony though) and on the "out skirts" of tier 1. If that makes any sense....LOL When I made out ADR's they asked me which tier I wanted. I told them the closet to the stage as they could get me using DDP. We were not seated in the balcony. They put us at the back center. It was a great view and my kiddos enjoyed it very much! We loved it so much that we are going back in Sept. and doing it again! Remember to keep in mind that when you are using the DDP it takes 2 table service credits. Good luck! Hope you have a great time!
