We are having dinner out at the Trail Ends rest. at FW July 16. We are staying at the Pop but have never been to the camp ground. We were thinking of catching the outdoor movie. I was wondering what the hayrides were like? Where do they go? Is it fun? How much does it cost? Do I have to make reservations?

Our 2 DS's are 14 and 11. They are excited to see the movie and explore the camp grounds.

Thanks for any help!

here is some stuff - from allearsnet - deb site
'Enjoy a Hay Ride at the Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds - Take an old-fashioned, horse-drawn hayride which offers an hour-long scenic tour around Fort Wilderness Campground. Hayrides depart at 7:00pm and 9:30pm nightly from the front of Pioneer Hall. $6.00 Adult; $4.00 Child (ages 3-9). Hayrides are on a first-come, first-served basis only ( no reservations!) (dwills)'

since I am allergic to hay - not something I will do.

for the experts on FW

I did not do the hay ride, but saw it.

It just an old wagon with rubber tires pulled by a horse on paved roads. Not very fun at all from the looks of it.

However, you should still go over to the campgrounds. We spent a good 2 hours there at the petting zoo, we watched them shoe a horse, we rode horses, road bikes.

It's a good free diversion away from the parks.

get to the wilderness lodge, then rent bikes. Ride the bikes the 1.5 miles to the camp ground to look around. Then ride back.
