I know, it sounds daft but as our trip draws closer, those silly little thoughts keep coming into my mind!

My DS started suffering with hayfever last year and this year was put onto some tablets and a nasal spray by the doctor as the over the counter remedies weren't really doing the trick. We're off to Disney on Tuesday so I wondered if anyone knew what pollen levels are like generally and whether I need to renew his prescription? He's stopped taking his meds at home as the worst seems to have passed but I don't know what to expect there. He's 7 by the way.

I would take them just in case. My DD2 suffers from hayfever and hasnt suffered as yet but you are better to be safe than sorry.

Like the OP said take them just to be safe. But I have the most horrible allergies ever and I never have issues when at Disney. ;)

thanks, will try to get a GP appointment to get the prescription done. With everything that's been going on I've only just thought of it despite being at the doctor's and hospital earlier this week.

my DS suffers really badly here and has tablets and spray which he takes everyday but as soon as we get to florida his syptoms go . I still take the tablets and spray with me just in case but he has never used it yet , at least my DS will get three weeks of relief

DH is from CA and never had hayfever or asthma until he moved over here with me. He started 6 weeks after he moved here. However when we go back to the states (doesn't matter which state) he never suffers from anything. So your DS might be lucky and not have any problems when you're in FL. Fingers crossed for him! :goodvibes

As others have said, my DH suffers terribly here but never has a problem over there, including at the flower and garden festival.

I have quite bad hayfever but it never affects me when I go to Florida. I think something to do with the different types of pollen in the UK compared to rest of the world. Hopefully this would apply to you son as well. As others have said, it doesn't hurt to pack the medicine just in case. Another tip is to make sure he wears sunglasses where possible as this can really help stop pollen causing his eyes to sting.

Hope you have a great trip :thumbsup2

dh has hay fever in the uk but never suffers in the usa and he has worked there all times of the year

you could take the medication with you or always pick up some benadryl over there.

how odd - same applies to my dd - she has (mild but annual) hayfever here but has never had it at WDW. DS swaps his hayfever though for runny nose and sore throat induced by the air conditioning.

DH and I both suffer with hayfever in the UK but have never had any problems anywhere we've travelled in the US. Can only think that whatever it is we are specifically allergic to here doesn't exist over there.

But, as others have advised, it makes sense to take medication with you just in case. I always carry some of ours.

If the medication is prescription-only, I'd suggest taking a copy of the prescription with you to prove you're entitled to have it. Whilst you can buy some things by the bucket-load in supermarkets there which are limited here, eg paracetamol (known as acetaminophen in the US), they are restrictive with others. (If you ever want to buy decongestants containing pseudoephedrine, be prepared to provide your great-granny's marriage certificate, take a DNA test and leave a pint of blood! Apparently you can make crystal meth from it, which no-one in Boots has ever mentioned to me when I've bought it there!)

I suffer from it, espcially in the spring. I do take the tablets with me just in case, but even during our spring trips, I have never needed them. Take them for peace of mind. Hopefully that's all you 'll need them for :goodvibes

Hi

Middle DD suffers from heyfever but for some strange reason only suffers in Universal Studios, especially round "Barney":confused3:confused3

Notsure if this is the time of year we visit, but always have "Benadryl" with me just incase.

Hope this helps
