Due to problems getting a flight, I'm going to have to cancel our reservations at HIFS and find something else..

Found a really good rate for Hawthorne Suites SEA WORLD (within walking distance) and was wondering if anyone has stayed there? I realize it's about 8 miles from WDW, but to me, that's a drop in the hat - and we're also going to be doing Sea World and US/IOA while we're in Orlando.

It will be me (Grandma), my grown DD, and my 5 yr. old granddaughter.. If I can't get recommendations for this place we may just go back to the Tropical Palms and get the studio cottage.

Thanks!

C. Ann,
I have not stayed at this one, but overall that hotel has a good reputation.

I thought you were getting a car. I understand thier shuttle is a little slow so that might be a consideration if you don't have a car.

We spent 3 nights at the Hawthorne Suites Sea World last month. We were originally scheduled for 2 mights and extended our stay by one night after having spent a week at our Marriott time share. We got a good rate of $58.00 through hotelkingdom.com. Overall, I would give the hotel a fairly good recommendation. It is, however, an older Hawthorne Suites and the suites are in need of updating. That being said, the hotel was very clean, I was impressed with the level of housekeeping. The public areas would seem to have been updated within the past few years. The breakfast area is quite large and inviting. The complimentary breakfast includes scrambled eggs and either sausage links or patties and either fried potatoes or french toast in addition to the daily hot and cold cereals, english muffins, etc.
Coffee, tea, & hot chocolate are available 24/7. There is a small store for sundries, magazines, newspapers, etc. Also, there is a video and video game rental machine.

Each suite has 2 separate rooms, which is nice. You enter the living room which has a pull out sofa. The kitchenette is here also with a medium size refrigerator. It's bigger than a cube but is not a full size fridge. Also microwave oven, toaster, coffee maker and two burner stove top. There is a small dishwasher. Plates and utensils for 4 people are provided along with a couple of Pyrex saucepans and the normal spatulas, can openers, etc. It was a well stocked small kitchenette. In the living area is a television along with VCR and Nintendo. I think there was a small stereo system also. Climate controls for the suite are in the living room area. The bedroom is completely separate with its own door. There is a second TV in the bedroom. Storage space is very good with a huge closet. Inside the closet was an iron and ironing board. The sink/vanity area is outside the separate room for the toilet and bathtub. We had a room with two double beds.

There is a small game room in the back of the property along with a small self-service guest laundry. The pool area was fine. It is a medium free form pool with a separate children's wading pool and a separate hot tub area. Next to the pool there is a children's climbing area with slide, etc. There is no pool slide.
Maximum pool depth is 5 feet. Pool was very clean, the pool man was there each morning while we were eating breakfast. (We are early breakfasters--7-:30 a.m)

Other than the furnishings and carpet in the suites themselves being kind of tired, I was relatively pleased for the price we paid.
Cleanliness is the most important thing to us and I had no complaints in that area. Believe it or not, I had more cleanliness issues while we were staying at Marriott's Cypress Harbour!

If I can answer any specific questions for you, please feel free to ask.
