We just returned from our 5 nite stay at Hawthorn Suites Universal. I really liked this hotel.
I got the one bedroom suite with two double beds and we (myself and two DSs ages 19 and 14) had plenty of room. I liked the fact that my DSs could stay up and watch TV and talk on the phone in the living room while I slept in bedroom.
The room had a kitchenette with a full refrigerator, a microwave, a toaster and a two burner stove (with no oven). It also had a dining room with a small dining table with four chairs.
The living room was very spacious and had a TV and a pullout sofa. The bedroom was very comfortable with two double beds, a TV and a desk and chair.
The bathroom had a sink and vanity with a stool located outside of the room with the tub and toilet. I really liked the set up of the bathroom because when you closed the two doors that led to the bathroom (one from the dining room and the other from the bedroom) it created a dressing room. This was great because it meant I didnt have to dress in the room with the shower
The location of this hotel was perfect. It is one block off of I Drive, less than 10 minutes from Universal and less than 20 minutes from Disney. There were several restaurants located near the hotel Burger King, Popeyes Chicken, Perkins, Fish Bones to name a few. Also, there is a Publix nearby as well.
The hotel also served a free daily breakfast buffet. It was not the best breakfast in the world but what can you expect for free
The menu changed daily but some of the items served included eggs, bacon, sausage, grits, oatmeal, tater tots, toast, bagels, apples, cereal, milk and juice.
There was also a nightly reception with free cocktails but we never made it back to the hotel in time to enjoy it.
The hotel provided free transportation to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.
The hotel also had free parking, a swimming pool, a small arcade, a basketball court and a computer set up in the lobby with free internet access.
All in all, I really liked this hotel and would definitely stay here again.
Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
