I wanted to share my experience with Hawthorn Suites in case anyone has thoughts of staying there.
We went to Universal last weekend for two nights. We took a late evening flight on Thursday and Royal Pacific didn't have any rooms until Friday so I booked Hawthorn Suites for one night. I booked this room more than two months ago. The day before I called to confirm and also to let them know my flight didn't get in until about 10:15 pm. I was informed they were overbooked but would block a room off for us. I had FL Tours coming to pick us up at 8:00 a.m. the next morning. When I got to Florida I was informed we had been moved to another of their properties. Didn't know where and I was very concerned we might not be able to get FL Tours to pick us up (they did however! Andy was great as usual!)
We were picked up and taken to The Ramada. By this time we are nearing 11:00 at night. our room at The Ramada had roaches crawling on the bed. We were moved to another room that smelled and half the lights didn't work. I called Hawthorn and a woman named Pam (apparently the front desk MANAGER) hung up on me twice because she didn't like my tone of voice.
Since coming home I have called and spoke to the hotel manager as well as a corporate manager. No one really seems to care! I was told by the front desk guy at the Ramada that Hawthorn routinely overbooks and bumps guests.
Just wanted to give everyone a heads up!
