We stayed at Hawthorn Suites on Palm Parkway for 6 nights
over Christmas/New Year break. The location is great, quick drive to all the parks and Downtown Disney. Suites are very nice and
kept very clean. Our was perfect for our family of three. DH and I
even discussed returning with DS and a friend sometime. Good kitchen area, great full sized frig, dishwasher; good bathroom with large vanity area and even a stool to sit down with a makeup mirror! Two large TVs, storage was on the short side
but we weren't living there permanently so we made do. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Hot tub was great, too cold
for swimming although DS tried it:jester: . Breakfast was
adequate, we grabbed something on the run each morning.
Danish, bagels and english muffins as well as some hot dishes(we didn't partake) and juice/coffee/milk/tea. If you are a big
fancy breakfast eater...grocery shop and cook in your suite.
We used the laundry three times and never had to wait. It was
clean and the machines were in good repair. Lots of restaurants
nearby to choose from including a good ethnic representation.
We mostly ate at the parks or DWNTN DSNY so I can't really
recommend but there are loads of choices. Great bed, good
pillows -we liked it. Book online really far in advance and
get good deals. Shop all the sights, they have different prices.

Sounds like the type of place we like to stay, both in terms of location and amenities. We stayed at the Summerfield Suites LBV (now called Springhill Suites I believe) and loved it. My question on Hawthorne Suites...So they studio, one bedroom, and two bedroom options? And how are the bedrooms set up? Is there actually a locking door...making it a completely separate room?

When you say " too cold to swim", do you mean the weather was too cold or the temp of the pool water was too cold? TIA

weather was too cold and pool is not heated.
Our one bedroom suite had a closing door between
the living room/kitchen and the bedroom. Both areas
have a door to the bathroom-hence another common area
but with closing doors. Our one bedroom had a sofa bed
in the living room kitchen with an additional chair and dining
room table with 4 chairs separating the kitchen corner.

Anyone have any recent stays at this location? If so, what are your thoughts? I am in the midst of planning and this is our first choice right now.

I at the one near US Hawthorne suites on Canada Avenue it was clean and had nice free breakfast last year.

We stayed at the LBV location last Oct. for 2 nights, and thought it was just great. It is close to DTD, there is a Winn Dixie grocery store just around the corner, and lots of restaurants nearby. The front desk staff were awesome, very friendly and seemed to actually like their jobs! I loved the way the bathroom was set up into 2 separate areas, with doors on both. The price was right - $89 AAA rate.

2bagator - do you have any specific questions about the place?

We have stayed for the past couple of years. Last time was this past April for 3 nights. Agree with everything above, it has always been a great stay with no issues; rooms are big, great location and think we paid $96 a night this year. Will agree that the pool can be cool but they told us in April that it is now heated. Hope to stay there again this coming year.

I really liked HS on Palm Parkway, too. My only 2 complaints....the tiniest ants you've every seen on the kitchen counter area (we just kept food stuffs on the dining table) and a sub par breakfast each morning (like soggy microwave sausages...stick with the cold pastries and cereal and you'll be fine). Enjoyed everything else about this hotel though...including the location!

We have stayed at the Hawthorn in LBV. We had no problems here at all. It was very clean and tidy, staff were very helpful and the pool seemed to be heated when we were there. The location is great too, just a few mins drive to downtown disney.

The rooms were equipped with everything you need. We stayed for fourteen nights and loved having the small kitchen area and fridge etc. It was so easy just to make something when we didnt want to go out. The separate bedroom was very welcome too. We are a party of five, two adults and three kids and I loved being able to put the kids to bed in a separate room,so we could watch tv without distrubing them. There was plenty of room in the suite and we didnt feel that we were on top of each other.

Although I loved this Hawthorn, we recently stayed at the Westwood Boulevard one and were not as impressed. Some of the common areas could have done with some work and lots of the slats in the pool chairs were broken. All in all it was okay but we much preferred the LBV one.
