Has anyone used their points to go to Hawaii? I am thinking of using my points to go someplace besides Disney. When I bought they said you could go other places. They did not stess this point.

From what i've read it seems like quite a few people use their points for either cruises or out-side Disney resorts.

To date, for the places we've visited, we've always found that if we put a $10.00 value on each one of our points, determine how many points is required for the non-wdw trip thru dvc, that we can come up with a better deal then what dvc is offering for basicly the same travel plans. I'm sure thats not the case with everyone but to date this has been our experience and we've gone to Arizona, Las Vegas, California, Bahamas, bermuda and the caribbean and have two other trips planed this year to go back to the bahamas and a caribbean cruise.

Have you thought about holding off on that Hawaii trip until the DVC opens next year?

Enjoy your trip, our "little guy" is at UCF and says the weathers been pretty nice.

We used our points for an exchange to Hawaii through II in 2001. It was VERY reasonable point wise (I think it was 160 points for a 1 bedroom with 2 bathrooms). We used another timeshare exchange for a different week and different island to get two weeks of timeshare stays and then we added a third week in hotels.

We are waiting until 2012 so we can check out the new Disney DVC in Hawaii. We can not wait...

We haven't used our DVC points for anything other than DVC. BUT we use our other timeshare all the time to exchange for places like Hawaii. The Westin on Kaanapali Beach on Maui is fabulous! You should have great trading advantage with DVC so give it a try and have fun!

HI is tough but potentially workable. I'd suggest you investigate the RCI options and decide which resorts and weeks you want to consider. Then call DVC and give them the resort codes and dates you will accept. Realize once you get an exchange, your points are gone.
