Anyone hear anything on any progress in Hawaii?????

Other than DVC just appointed a VP for the resort, I don't think much has happened.

It's funny, DW and I were just discussing this. We're watching a show about Hawaii on the Travel Channel right now and am hoping we can return there in about four years (we were there in 2006). I mentioned, it sure would be nice if the DVC Hawaii resort was complete there and we could stay there on points. I guess we'll see. If not, I might try the II exchange route. What I'm hoping is we can do a week long cruise around the islands on NCL and then a week staying in a resort on one of the islands.

I am going to Hawaii the first week in August. We are going to stay on Oahu for a day, just so we can check out the new DVC situation. Then on to the Mauna Lani for a week. I will post when I get back as to any construction.
Can't wait to try out the Big Island!! We have been to Oahu and Maui already, but never with DVC.

Just back from a two week stay in Hawaii. One week on Oahu at Marriott KoOlina Beach Club and one week on Maui at the Grand Wailea.

We stayed at the Marriott KoOlina Beach Club In Front of Lagoon 3.

We did the Marriott tour and the Sales person was happy to let us know that Disney is building in KoOlina in front of Lagoon Two right next to the J.W. Ihalini Resort and Spa in front of Lagoon One. There was also an article in our room about Disney building. In front of Lagoon 2 It is a big open grassy field now with no indication of Disney Bldg soon.

The resorts in KoOlina have a Security check in. There is a marina next to Lagoon 4. Marriott is adding onto their resort in front of Lagoon 4.

Shopping Center is about 15 minutes away for gas, food store, drug store and restaurants. I took a picture and hope to post it soon.

I havent heard anything more than what others are posting right now: site cleared, new VP, things in progress......

Lots of folks are concerned about increasing airline tickets. Our tickets for the next trip to Orlando cost almost 50% more than last year. The airline now also charges an additional $15 for your first bag. Wonder if this enters into any DVC Hawaii plans.

As Disneymomjcs stated, there is a security gate to get into the Ko Olina area. When we were there, they had a list they checked for our name. Not sure if that has changed or not.
