On March 8, 2011, the Hawaii State House of Representatives passed HB809, which would raise the Transient Accommodations Tax rate on time share vacation homes from 7.25% to 9.25% through June 30, 2015. HB809 has been sent to the Hawaii State Senate for consideration.
HB1163, which would significantly increase the tax on time share units, was deferred by the House Tourism Committee on January 31, 2011. No action has been taken on HB1163 since that date.
