I just received confirmation of a 12 night vacation next summer at Kapalua Bay in Maui. We got 2 free nights, 2 free buffet breakfasts a day, and a "kids eat free" option with lunch and dinner. I know many would say this isn't the best use of points, but I would NEVER have paid the cash price for such a vacation. I bought DVC knowing that I would use my points for other vacations every other year, and plan to never look back. Especially since if I had left the money in the stock market, I would have lost a third of it by now. Best $ I ever spent.

Congratulations!! We went to Oahu last September for the very first time and we loved Hawaii so much that we're actually thinking seriously of moving there. Have a great time. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Wow! 12 nights!! That sounds fabulous.

I don't think you made a poor choice for your points. Your points are to use for your pleasure. Boy, will you get a lot of pleasure from that trip!

I also splurged with some of my points for a wonderful trip to the Mauna Lani on the Big Island. We just loved every minute.

I'm really interested in hearing about Kapalua Bay. Please be sure to report back after your trip!

In the meantime, have fun just anticipating!

Congrats! It sounds like a great trip.

We've been considering spending points for one of the Hawaii locations also, so I hope you'll post a long report about your trip when you get back. I think one of the best things about DVC is that there are so many options.

Enjoy!

Maui is great! So much to do or do nothing at all. I've been to all the islands and I would love to go back to Maui one day! You're going to love it! :p

Good luck on your trip to Hawaii. My wife and I love Hawaii. Spent our honeymoon there back in '95, bought a week timeshare on the Big Island, and have been back 3 times since. Favorite island is Maui, with Kauai being a close second. Last trip we spent a week on the Big Island at our timeshare (Kona Coast) and then 7 more on Maui, at the Kea Lani over in Wailea.

As one of the prior posters said, there is plenty to do, or nothing to do. We loved Wailea, nice and quiet, relaxing, etc. Then a short drive over to Lahaina, and have a little fun and excitement.

Say hello to Hawaii for us --- we have to wait until our 7 month old is 4 before we venture on an 11 hour flight. In the meantime we will spend our time in WDW.

Have fun!!! Wish we were going!!!
:bounce:

That's fantastic! Have a great time!

So, how did this work? How did you end up with 12 days and 2 free days? And what about the meals? Was this arranged through the exchange or DVC? Details, we need details!!!!

Thanks.

We did a week for week exchange through DVC and II to Kona Coast II resort this spring. I think the week exchanges are a better use of points since it is far less points than the hotel room point costs at the Concierge resorts like Kapalua.
