Have Aulani booked with DVC. Now, the flights from CA are so much more than I thought (and what they used to be back in the day!) - down to $760 from over $800, for end of Mar to Apr. Guess that's how much it's gonna be, and for 4 people - ugh!
I see other dates like May are way less - must be the spring break time is just that much. Looks like since the price already went down I should just get it now. Or any other suggestions?

What airport are you using? I've been to Hawaii twice in the past 12 months and by going out of smaller airports, I've been able to snag some much cheaper airfares. It's worth looking.

Look at BeatofHawaii.com Hands down, they find the best air deals and publish via Facebook and email. Yesterday has $495 on United from Atlanta or SLC. West coast fares are always being announced. You just have to move quickly to book them.

I get near-constant emails about amazing airfare to Hawaii from Alaska airlines. Be sure to sign up with them. And definitely look to a variety of airports.

We flew Oakland-Kona last March for $295 RT. That price came out in late fall and we booked it then. I *think* it was on Delta.

I think Spring Break/Easter Holiday is mid-April this year. If your dates are late March to early April I think you can get a better deal. We flew to Hawaii this past February 2013. When first looking out of SFO it was nearly $800. I trolled the sites all the time and luckily checked one day (I remember it was very late at night) and got it for $391. Right now I'm looking for WDW in April and yes, it's in the middle of Spring Break/Easter. Only within the last two weeks have I noticed airlines manipulating prices. I heard that it's really six to four months out that the prices really get adjusted. Good Luck!

I'm looking at Oakland, which is the cheapest compared to SFO or SJC. It seems like the weekend flights are also what's expensive, that particular Saturday going out looks like it's the worst for the 2 months! I will keep checking but scared might be going back up to over $800, and kayak predictor from SFO is saying to buy now - big chance it will be going up.

What airline was that?

Try Alaskan Air. My inlaws have used them the last two trips they took and while we were in Hawaii this past summer, I heard several HI residents say they've been using Alaskan.

You don't want to know what prices are like coming from the east coast. $800 would make me ecstatic.

Check out the trip consolidators in your area, from the east coast, I have used, Funjet, Apple Vacations, and Vacation Express, you will usually find the ads for the ones in your area in the Sunday travel section of your newspaper. The only one I am familiar with for CA-Hawaii travel is Pleasant Holidays, but I'm sure you have more, here is there website:http://www.pleasantholidays.com/PleasantHolidaysWeb/Vacation-Deals-Hawaii-Oahu.html

Even though they specialize in vacation packages, a lot of times, you can get some great deals on air only, because they have large blocks of seats available. We have gotten tickets in the past for example Atlanta - Cancun for $149RT

I just did a spot check with Pleasant for Feb leaving out of Oakland (didn't see when you are going or where you wanted to leave from, so just a guess) and it was $494RT per person
