What will my chances be to book Hawaii for Feb 17-24, 2012 at the 7 month mark.

Any ideas out there?

:santa:

I suspect that your chances will be relatively good the first year, much like Bay Lake Tower and Animal Kingdom were.

We are hoping for July 2012..........does anyone know how far in advance you can make a cash reservation?

Just knowing about Hawaii demand seasons February may be tough because that's the height of whale watching season.

Yep we have a wedding to go to 11/11 weekend so hoping the 7 month will work out. Hmm, maybe I should see if I can find a reasonable (for disney) cash rate as a backup.

Feb and mid Summer are both high demand. I'm suspecting though that getting in to HI at exactly 7 months out won't be that difficult except for Xmas, NY's, President's week and a couple of others. There will also be a lot of WL action more so than any other resort related to distance and cost of a trip there including air. The issue is that people serious about the trip will have to plan before the 7 month window and plan a back up. Most will need to consider booking air before they know if they'll get in or not and if using FF miles they will be required to book air prior to have any real chance of success.

I also am hoping to book Feb. 2012 at the 7 month window!

Dean,

You are right on the money! Our flights have already been booked. We are using frequent flyer miles. We have a back up hotel but there is also the option of re-depositing the frequent flyer miles back into our accounts - for a small fee. Hopefully, we will get lucky and be able to book at Aulani at the seven month mark. :)

We're hoping to join DVC soon enough to be able to book Aulani for late Apr 2012 (at the 7-month mark -- Mid Sept. 2011.)

I guess we'll find out how easy booking at 7 months will be after Jan 2011.

Just asked MS about doing a cash reservation at Aulani and they said they would not being doing any cash reservations at the villas for awhile, only the hotel portion of the resort. :sad1: So I guess I'll just stay up til 3a Hawaii time the night before my booking window opens and hope for the best. :coffee: Worst case scenario I can always stay at the Marriott next door, spend a prohibitive amount of MR points, and go wander around the Aulani property oohing and ahhhing.

What kind of air prices are you finding? Which airport/airlines are u flying into? How long are you all staying? Thanks

DVC SSR Owner,

We are using frequent flyer miles for our flights but if we were purchasing the flight it would cost $738 from Cleveland on United and $882 from Cleveland on Continental. The flight is not until October 2011 so they have a chance to come down but I am not familiar with booking for Hawaii. I know I would wait to book Orlando until closer.

We are looking at mid Oct 2011. I've checked airfare and RT from Omaha is about $620. Hoping it goes down. We are also hoping to be able to book at the 7 month window.

Reasonable for Hawaii tends to be about 600 RT. It varies a lot of course, but from West Coast to HNL expect $300 RT to be as low as you can find in low season, more like $4-500 in shoulder season, then add on however much you would usually pay to get from your home city to the West Coast. We often buy seperate airfares going to the West Coast then switch to SW since it many times works out cheaper that way. You have to exit the terminal and recheck your luggage but well worth saving a hundred or two IMHO. Good luck!

I own Marriott Vacation Club at Ko Olina and we stay during that time frame, that start's into peak season with kids out from school in California, but it's also shoulder season too so my thought have a DVC reservation in Florida...something to trade.

We travel to hawaii a couple times a year from New York JFK airport, the fall fare's kick in for October $499 roundtrip from JFK to HNL, you might see this happen late September. It get's ruff waiting but the fare's do come down.

I think you will be surprised and be able to get the reservation no problem. Good luck and enjoy your trip.:cool1::banana:

Have to agree, it's still being sold and plenty of inventory. After it's sold out, it's Califorina's play ground when the kids are out of school.

This thread is encouraging! We are hoping to book Aulani at 7 months for around Dec 13 - 22, 2011. We'll take the best view we can get but will be happy with anything. :thumbsup2
