Having visited Disney World numerous times, will I be "let down" when visiting DL?

Can I admit that all these threads comparing the two are making me really afraid of WDW? I'm a super planner, but even I'm intimidated. I feel like I need to start making reservations now for a possible 2013 trip.

No, you are not alone. I am right there with you! It is pretty intimidating, but like most things, I think it probably makes more sense once you get there. We need a thread for DL vets who are planning WDW trips. :thumbsup2

You're right, it's very intimidating. WDW trips require a lot more planning than DLR trips. Visiting during slower periods has the same drawbacks at both places: shorter park hours, more refurbishments, more extreme weather. But more so than at DLR, planning on when to visit is the first and probably most important decision to make. After that, choose a resort. Then look at which parks you want to tour and consult charts that advise low-attendance parks on each day. Once your park days are set, look at ADRs and fill in places you want to eat at according to where you'll be each day, remembering that it takes a lot longer to get around at WDW than at DLR. I always rent a car at WDW because I want the added freedom if Disney's transportation system is going to inconvenience me. Do your homework, crunch your numbers, plan efficient touring with quality rest breaks, and you'll be ahead of 99.547 percent of everyone around you. That is, when they finally arrive late-morning to the parks.

I'd suggest planning is about the same difficulty, but since we all started at one park or the other we see that one being easier.

Take things in steps.
1. When to go?
2. How many days?
3. How to get there?
4. Where to stay.?
and so on.

If you want to have a great time, all it takes is an open mind.

BTW there is a sort of thread for DL vets going to WDW.
Introduction to WDW for DL vets.

Funny...I am having the same reaction...reversed. Disneyland was so special last year when we took the kids; I am hoping they won't be disappointed with WDW. My mom, my cousin, and my SIL have all told me that WDW is too big and it doesn't have the same special Disney feel. I suspect it is simply what you get used to (we are all Californians).

The Queen of Hearts actually pulled my daughter out of line when she saw dd's Alice costume and then Alice talked to my dd about just how mean the Queen was. It was awesome.

I love all things Disney and Disneyland is definitely my favorite. My husband and I got to go to DW last November and we had a fantastic time and I'm sure we missed tons of things, but it was still an excellent trip. If I could only pick one park to visit for the rest of my life it would definitely be Disneyland in California. I love being able to walk between the parks and I love how close the rides are together, without feeling crowded or losing that Disney special feeling.

We were in DL and DCA in early Oct. I had read about the construction complaints also. They are no big deal, just some nice blue walls with disney pictures on them. It is still ez to get around. I think some people just look for something to complain about.
As for difference between WDW and DL , DL is easier to get around in and u can take a break at your room without a drive or boat ride. Its Disney and if you can't enjoy yourself there dont know what to tell you.
