I'm going to have my upholstery professionally cleaned. They offer a upholstery protector and deodorizing. I'm going to add the protector but I was wondering if the deodorizer is worth it.

If you have had your couch/chairs cleaned, would you add the deodorizer or do you think it's a waste. By the way, the furniture doesn't stink! ;) Supposedly the deo is good for if you had spilt milk on the furniture and my daughter has had her share of chocolate milk spilled on the couch.

Edited to add:

Would you go with Sears of Stanley Steemer?

my Dfiance is a bit obsessive compulsive when it comes to cleaning. she always orders the deodorizing treatment & anything else they offer for that matter  . unfortunately i do not know if it really makes a difference or not. :confused3 ;)

Actually they are both a waste of money. If the protector is like a Scotchguard type thing, the spray on's aren't all that effective in repelling stains for any length of time. The best method is having the fabric soaked in the stuff before they put it on the frame. You can buy a couple cans of the spray on Scotchguard for a few dollars and do the same thing yourself if you really want.

I've had my furniture cleaned once by Stanley Steamer. It was a few years ago and they did a good job on it. I really don't know if they used a deodorizer or not. The end result was good. :thumbsup2

we've used a cleaner we purchased which stunk. we've only had sears come in to clean the furniture and have been satisfied.

I have only used Sears and have not been dissatisfied. I would be curious about Stanley Steemer because because my furniture and rugs are in desperate need of some serious cleaning!

My mother, who is a fussy housekeeper, used Stanley Steemer and was very pleased.

Her couch has a white backbriund with a blue and peach floral, so it does tend to show the soil after a while.

We have used Stanley Steamer for carpets but not upholstery. They have done a fantastic job on our carpets.

Before Christmas we wanted to have our family room furniture professionally cleaned. We had two companies come out, which each used a different method of cleaning, and both told us that their method would not work on any of our furniture. So I hope your situation works out better than ours!

Did they say why the cleaning wouldn't work on your furniture?
