My family is planning a Grand Adventure! We're taking two weeks to go to the UK and France. Our plan is to take Eurostar from London to DLP in the last week of March 2007. We have checked pricing at several hotels, and are soooo tempted to stay in the Disneyland Hotel even though it's much pricier than the other options (we figure 'what the heck, when is it likely we'll get back?').

Anyhow, we have a few complications with making a booking. First, we're in California, and so far, I haven't found a way, short of calling DLP directly myself, to book nights that don't include breakfast and tickets. See, we've never been to Paris before, and even though we're all serious Disney fans, we did think we'd go see some of those famous places in Paris. Rather than changing hotels, we thought we'd like to stay at DLP and simply go into Paris for a day or two.

A travel agent, with whom I've been working, tells me that the DL Hotel is sold out for the dates we want, but the online booking seems to indicate that we can still book directly. That won't let us get the room-only rate, though, nor any of the other add-ons, which we're considering (half board, etc.) Is booking directly the only way to go?

During the last week of March, there's a promotion for Kids Free, which is really great on the budget.

We are a family of five (2 big kids ages 48 and 44, 3 actual sized kids ages 10, 11, and 11) so we would probably prefer to have a family room rather than getting two rooms...unless it seems cost-effective to get the two rooms--but they must be adjoining.

We haven't even *started* thinking about the restaurants (although my kids are huge Rainforest Cafe fans, so they're thrilled that they could go to another RFC).

Any/all suggestion would be most welcome! I have only begun to start reading here, and need to learn more about the Shareholders Club, etc.
Thanks so much!!

Hi disneylandkids, welcome to the DLP board! :welcome:

I've just had a quick check on Expedia and there are definitely rooms available the last week of March at the Disneyland Hotel. Look carefully at the difference between room-only rates and ones with park tickets. The Disneyland Hotel can actually be cheaper as a package with tickets than as a room-only booking! :earseek:

Hello and thanks for your reply!

I just looked at Expedia for the nights of 3/29-31 and saw that there were no rooms available at any of the onsite Disney properties. Do you have a different version of Expedia in the UK, perhaps? It boggles my mind that ALL the DLP hotels wouldn't have a room available--maybe they aren't released yet?

Looks like I won't be able to book my flights (on points) until November 30th - I am just going to leave those days open and book the DL Hotel when it comes up for availability in the spring/summer.

I don't understand why they don't have a proper online booking system with a least a years availability, like WDW.

Sorry, I had put in the dates 26th - 30th March. I've just looked again and they are still available but the nights of Friday 30th and Saturday 31st are not. :sad2: :sad2:

To be honest, I think if I was you I would give them a ring. :)

I think part of the problem with the dates is that they haven't announced any prices past 29 March (at least that I could see online).

Thanks!!

Hi everyone, I have my air all booked now November 21st - December 8, 2007. Flying into Rome and home from Paris.

Is everything okay at Disneyland Paris? I heard something about a takeover? and the possibility of no characters? :confused3

We will be needing to stay there December 4-8th and we'd like to stay at the Disneyland hotel in the Castle Club. I guess I still have to wait a few months to make our reservations for this?

Great news that you have flights booked up :thumbsup2

This is old news. A very spurious approach was made which never delivered any formal announcement of a serious intent.
It is so old it dropped all the way down the boards. Here is the thread for your interest.

Okay, so thats good to know that everything is okay with DLP and Pluto and Eeyore will still be there :)

So do you all figure I will be able to book the hotel in the near future? maybe by March? I would like to get everything confirmed as soon as possible.

Hi everyone, I have some more questions about DLRP & Paris itself.

Booked so far

Flight - Toronto To Rome - Nov 19th
Cruise from Rome - Nov 21st
Flight Paris to Toronto - December 8th

Pending

1) Flight from Rome to Paris on December 3rd

There are several flights with Air France & Alitalia - does anyone think one is a better choice than the other? It would be business class - so who has a better business class? maybe one arrives at a better terminal then the other?

It's too early to book the Disneyland Hotel Castle Club - waiting until that is open for reservations

2) Does Castle Club concierge work like WDW concierge with advance itinerary planning? (IPO)

3) Is the California Grill Disneyland Hotel anything like the California Grill at the Contemporary?

4) I have been to Paris before but probably will want to show my DD13 some of the standard sights (ie) Arc de Triump, Eiffel Tower etc..

Should I stay in Paris a night when we arrive from Rome, do the sights and then go to DLRP? or leave DLRP a day early for one night in Paris? or can I do a day trip from DLRP leaving in the morning - back in the evening?

Any thoughts on that? I would like the easiest way possible to combine the sites of Paris somehow in our trip.

5) Are there any shows in Paris (in English kids would enjoy) like Lion King, Mamma Mia, Phantom - you know, like the London Theatre scene? I couldn't find anything online except for cabaret type shows and I am not into cancan dancing!

I guess that's it for now, appreciate any help or thoughts you might have on our trip - I'm open to suggestions!

I booked the Admrial Floor...a suggestion given by other DIS members...and for the difference in price it is worth it ( I'll let you know when we come back). You get rooms closer to the reception and for breakfast you don't have to go at a fixed time, but when ever you feel like it !

This is note true. We have stayed two times at the Admiral Floor (last time in Oct/Nov 2006) and we also had to choose our breakfast times like all other quests of the hotel. But at the Admiral Floor you can have breakfast at your room for only 10€ per room extra charge!

Hi Cass,

I would take one day off for Paris!

We have stayed 3 times at the DLH (standard rooms). And the only thing I can say about this hotel is: It is the most beautiful hotel in the world! (But you should keep in mind that I have never been to the US! ;) and I have never been in an American Disney Hotel!
)
Castle Club is still a dream for us but we hope we can make this dream come true someday. Last June we had dinner at the California Grill and although I don't know the US counterpart I can say that the CG is the most expensive restaurant in the resort. (But it is worth it every Cent!) The food is great, the service is even greater and if you are looking for a quite romatic dinner with well behaved children - this is your place to go. But if you have children with you I would prefer the Inventions. This is the best buffet I have ever had and the children (and the adults) will have the time of their lives with the great character interaction.

By the way: In all the restaurant the menu is available in Frensh, English, German, Italian and Spanish.

Hello, we just got back form 6 days at the ADmiral's CLub at the NPB and we were allowed to choose our brekafast time. We were there at a very busy season from the 26th until the 31st of Dec.
Our bkfst card said 7:45, but the receptionist told us to go whenever we wanted. She said from 8:30 until 9:30 it would be very busy , and we would have to que...Once we went at 8am and it was empty...and the rest of the days we went at 9:30- 9:45 and we only had to wait for 5 minutes.
:)
Regarding the airline.....why don't you check on lince prices flying from Rome to paris, with Alitalia and Air France. The prices should be about the same...but even though I live in Italy, I would suggesto to use Air France. Alitalia is a bit in the limbo...and you neve know when it can go on strike.:confused3 We flew AF last week and it was great. Regarding Business Class, the only difference may be the weight limit permitted for you luggage and the food on board, but for a 2 hrs flight ( or so) I don't think the difference in cost is worth it. It's better to use that money for the Castle CLub at DLH.
Hope this helps.

Welcome back. I hope you had a great trip! Will you give us a trip report and some pictures! :cool1:

The thing with the breakfast is the same in all Disney Hotels (except DLH)
You have to take a breakfast card with a time frame. But you won't get any trouble if you show up to another time. We have made this experience in Santa Fee and in the Newport Bay Club standard rooms too! :thumbsup2

The California grill at DLH paris seems to have a more of a french flavour to it then the california grill at WDW. ( you can check out the menu at this website http://www.dlpfoodguide.com/californiagrill.html)

I don't think that the castle club offers an IPO service as at the wdw deluxe, it is not really needed as reservations are not hard to get like at WDW. When you arrive at the CC, you can make any reservations when you are being checked in to the hotel.

Thanks for the menu link. I'll check it out.

Martinacris, AF and AZ are exactly the same price 1100.00 USD$ that's why I wonder if anyone could suggest one over the other.

The day trip to Paris from DLRP baffles me, what is the best way to do this - there and back on the same day?
